Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik Sets Expenses Scandal Claim Record

Politics

The Justice Minister, Shahid Malik, became the latest MP to be named in the ever expanding expenses scandal in the Daily Telegraph which states that Mr Malik claimed the maximum allowed for the second homes allowance amounting to £66, 827 over 3 years for his London home with an original purchase price of £85,000 (2001), whilst at the same time nominating a rental property as his main residence in his Dewsbury constituency for less than £100 per week.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Shahid Malik's claims also include a £730 massage chair, £2,600 for a home cinema and £65 for a court summons for not paying council tax, the list carries on with various furnishings including fitted wardrobes, leather sofa, fireplace i.e. the sort of items that ordinary tax payers have to pay for out of their salaries rather than have treated as 'expenses'. As well as the maximum of £400 per month for food, which is about the amount an average family of four would spend on groceries per month.

What appears across the board abuse of power by MP's that have deliberately set up an expenses system that allows them to legally get away with outrageous expense claims that in any other organisation would have resulted in immediate dismissal if not criminal prosecution is because the majority of MP's see themselves as unaccountable above the law entities and still are not able to grasp the magnitude of their crimes against the electorate that had placed their trust in them, maybe last nights BBC Question Time will bring home the seriousness of the situation which threatens voters in disgust running to the likes of the BNP.

BBC Question Time audience exchanges with Margaret Becket after the MP attempted to justify the £72,000 that she claimed in expenses, an audience member responded with -

" I am just very Angry Mr Dimbleby,"

"Mrs Becket are you going to pay back the £72,000 that you have taken after your mealy-mouthed answer trying to explain yourself, and Mr Campbell how the hell do you get through £800 a month on food?"

"No I'm Not, because as I pointed out a moment ago...."

The audience boo's, jeers and heckles Margaret Becket's mealy-mouthed excuses.

The full programme is available now to watch on BBC Iplayer.

The electorate will get the chance to deliver their opinion at the next general election which is due within 12 months.

Malik

He, Mr Malik, should be prosecuted if found guilty of fraud. The same should go for the rest of the bunch.

All these MPs think the general public are a set of idiots with thier lame excuses. I for one will not be voting so i can help make the rich richer and the poor poorer. And Malik, try living like the rest of us now... we cant claim for anything to help us live a life of luxury.. Welcome to our world.

Shahid Malik's resignation statement in full

THIS is the full statement issued by MP Shahid Malik in light of his decision to step down as Justice Minister:

"I spoke with the Prime Minister this morning and we agreed that the best way forward in the face of this specific allegation was for me to step to one side as an interim measure and allow Sir Philip Mawer to look into the matter. I'm pleased to have this opportunity to clear my name.

"I would like to make it clear that this inquiry has nothing whatsoever to do with my expense claims but relates to an allegation regarding my rent which, if true, would breach the ministerial code.

"I am confident that there has been no such breach and look forward to the findings of the inquiry so that I can continue to serve my constituents as their MP and the country as a minister with my head held high.

"The media will be well aware that I'm only too happy to engage, as indeed I have yesterday and today. They will also appreciate that, given that an inquiry is now under way, it would be inappropriate to comment further and I thank them for their co-operation."

Vote BNP

I have never voted bnp before, but this time I really feel like voting for them, to stick the fuckin boot into the 3 mainstream parties. Even left-wing politician Clare Short has been claiming for the FULL COST of her mortgage for TWO AND A HALF YEARS, when the rules clearly state she can only claim for the INTEREST. What the fuck are they playing at, when many ppl in Britain are struggling to hold their jobs down and earning the minimum rate of pay??

SCUM, the lot of em!

Thieves

Thieves, common thieves, and they need to be taught somehow that they are worthless little nothings.

No vote from me... for any of them, ever ever again.

They lie, they cheat .....and then some.

Cut the numbers in half, and send them to a call centre in Asia, with Asian wages!

Home Cinema

Perhaps they should get themselves a better job then. You become an MP because you're driven by a moral duty not because it's a good way to make a living. A cinema in his house? Bullshit.

Justice minister

So this is the "JUSTICE MINISTER". Lets hope justice is served on this common thief by the police as soon as possible. May god help this once fine country. To think we have to put up with low life creatures like this beggars belief. The expenses system was based on trust and deemed to be fair. But our MPs have shown themselves totally unfit for public office by milking the sytem . Our wonderful Queen should as Head of State dissolve parliament to rescue us from this awful catastrophe.
