Trump’s Trade War Is Good for These 3 Dividend Stocks / Companies / Dividends

By: Robert_Ross

The US v. China trade war is heating up.

Until recently, the nations appeared to be making progress.

That was until President Trump raised tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese imports from 10% to 25%.

The news sent the S&P 500 down 3% in the next two trading days. But not all stocks suffered.

That’s because some stocks actually benefit from tariffs.

I’ll show you why in a moment—and share a few stable, dividend-paying stocks set to benefit as this all plays out.

Investing in Uber Is the Worst Thing You Can Do with Your Money in 2019 / Companies / IPOs

By: Stephen_McBride

Uber’s IPO is the biggest IPO since Facebook (FB) went public in 2012.

It marks the first time individual investors can buy this beloved company.

IPOs carry a special allure. Investors dream of “getting in on the ground floor” and riding the stock to 20X–30X profits.

But collecting profits of 20X or better is possible if you identify disruptive stocks early on.

Uber is certainly disruptive. But as I’ll show you, it’s a horrible investment.

Defense Spending Is Recession Proof - Defense Dividend Stocks / Companies / US Military

By: Robert_Ross

We’ve recently got some bad news about Social Security.

A new report says the program will cost more than it takes in by 2020. By 2035, its back-up trust fund will also run dry.

This makes sense: America is greying.

We’re having fewer children, living longer, and wages are growing at a slower pace.

That means there are fewer workers, those workers are making less money, and they’re supporting more retirees.

When Social Security was introduced in 1935, there were 42 workers for every retiree. Today, there are only 2.9.

And that number is set to drop to 1 within the next decade.

UBER IPO Competitively Priced for First Trading Day Gain of 10% to $50 / Companies / IPOs

By: Nadeem_Walayat

UBER has decided to IPO at the lower end of market expectations at $45 per share with a view to raising $82 billion. Priced well below market expectations of $50. Therefore it is highly likely that UBER will have a successful first days trading that could easily see the stock trade higher by 10% to $50 that would value the company at $90 billion.

This FinTech Stock Is Like Buying Square At $13 / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: Submissions

We all know names like PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL market cap: $131 billion) or Square (NYSE: SQ market cap: $29 billion). Sure, these stocks present an opportunity, even at these levels, but imagine getting Square at under $13 per share or Paypal in the low $30s. You would have earned returns in multiples.

While these types of opportunities are long behind us when it comes to PayPal and Square, there are a few plays in the FinTech sector that are just starting to heat up. In my opinion, one Canadian FinTech player has the potential to be one of these opportunities in the future.

BAIDU (BIDU) - Top 10 Artificial Intelligence Stocks Investing To Profit from AI Mega-trend / Companies / AI

By: Nadeem_Walayat

This is my latest analysis in my machine intelligence investing mega-trend series that warns to prepare for EVERYTHING to change EXPONENTIALLY when average machine intelligence surpasses average human intelligence following which it will be off to the races. When the pace of change will leave everything that has happened before far behind. And in my opinion that key date will occur sometime during 2022, i.e. in less than 4 years time! Which means if you have not already got your act together by getting onboard this investing gravy train then you really need to take action or kick yourself many years down the road, when you will be asking yourself why I did not invest in those AI stocks before they went stratospheric!

Disney Stock Price Will Hit $170 Next Year / Companies / Investing 2019

By: Stephen_McBride

On April 12, Disney (DIS) took a massive leap. The stock jumped 12% in a single day:

Big, safe stocks like Disney don’t often move 5% in a day, let alone 12%.

And Disney isn’t a small, medium, or even large company. It is a giant company. It’s the 18th-biggest publicly traded American company—bigger than Coca Cola, McDonald’s, and Wells Fargo.

This Stock Is as Safe as Coca Cola but Pays a 6.4% Dividend / Companies / Dividends

By: Robert_Ross

I bet you’ve never heard of Pat Munroe.

And unless you’re from the Florida Panhandle, I imagine you haven’t heard of Quincy, Florida, either.

But the two can teach us a lot about investing.

See, in the early 1920s, Munroe was a banker in Quincy.

One thing Munroe noticed was no matter how hard the times, the people of his small town always seemed to have money to buy a Coca-Cola.

So he started buying shares of the company. Not long after, he was telling everyone in town to buy shares of Coca-Cola.

Panicked by the Yield Curve Inversion? Time to Load Up on This Stocks Sector / Companies / Sector Analysis

By: Robert_Foss

For about a week last month, the yield curve inverted for the first time since July 2006.

Prior to that, this happened in July 2000 and April 1989.

There’s a pattern here… each inversion hit about 18 months before a recession. In fact, the yield curve has inverted before every recession over the last 50 years.

As such, recession-proofing your portfolio is imperative for investors.

The good news is the yield curve inversion also means stocks should perform well in the short term.

The even better news is that I’ve found a sector that consistently outperforms the broader market after every yield curve inversion.

At Look at IPOs in Digital Advertising / Companies / IPOs

By: Rodney_Johnson

Digital advertising is supposed to be the fuel of the future, funding new companies (#IPOs) that provide us with services we never knew we wanted – Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. – while tearing away at our privacy.

But there’s a problem.

Digital advertising is annoying users, and starting to creep us out.

I don’t want to see ads for lightweight jackets for the next three months just because I searched for one last November.

And by the way, isn’t that a bit backward? If I already bought the jacket, why is it still being marketed to me?

These 3 Computing Technologies Will Beat Moore’s Law / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: Stephen_McBride

There’s a big lie about disruption going around. And folks aren’t spreading it intentionally.

Many smart investors I talk to genuinely believe it to be the truth.

If you accept this widespread lie, you’ll likely make poor decisions when investing in disruptive companies.

Here, I’ll explain the real truth and why it matters to disruption investors.

Want To Earn A Safe 5% In Fixed Income? Buy Preferred Stocks / Companies / Dividends

By: Robert_Foss

Chances are you’re overlooking an entire class of safe, high-yield stocks…

These stocks have dividend yields averaging 5.7%. Yet very few retail investors own them.

That’s a shame. It means you’re probably leaving a lot of (predictable) money on the table—a thought income investors should cringe at.

If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m talking about preferred stocks, the bond-like cousin of ordinary “common stocks.”

As I’ll explain, today’s interest rate environment makes now a great time to buy preferred stocks.

Elliott Wave Analysis of SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: WavePatternTraders

If you are an active trader, then you may well have been noticing the recent strength on the semiconductor stocks, particularly stocks like Broadcom (AVGO) Intel (INTC) and Microsoft (MSFT). Although there are a few more semiconductor stocks that have shown strength since the Dec 2018 low, based on the weighting, the stocks listed are the more important stocks to follow in my opinion.

Taking a look at the ETF called XSD, it's pretty much the SOX in disguise, I favor the frenzy and euphoria that we are seeing now, is likely a 5th wave of a large impulse wave from the 2009 low. It's common to see Technology stocks being bid when traders and investors are chasing the market. We saw that into the Oct 2018 high as the FAANG stocks were being bid up. Today it's not so much the FAANG stocks, but the semiconductor stocks, which is very reminiscent to what was seen into the 2000 tech bubble top.
