BBC Question Time, BNP Sowing the Seeds of Civil Unrest in Britain During 2010

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe BBC's decision to allow the leader of the far right BNP air time on its flagship political debate programme Question Time tonight marks another milestone along the path towards the emergence of the far right to new extremes which follows the electoral winning of two European Parliament seats and a string of local election gains.

The reason for the emergence of the far right in today's Britain lies firmly at Labours door which has abandoned a large swathe of it's traditional working class voters over the past decade under first Blair and now Brown. In the European Elections the BNP received 6% of the national vote and approx 66% of those that voted for the BNP profess not to be racist, which is indicative of the growth in the disillusioned Labour working class voters now giving their political allegiance to the Wolf in Sheep's clothing which is what the BNP is.

Reasons for the Surge in BNP Votes

1. Betrayal of the working class by New Labour and Conservatives.

2. Lack of an effective immigration policy

3. Perceived favour of state benefits and housing to immigrants from Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.

4. Council Estates with permanently high unemployment leading to white social exclusion.

5. MP Expenses Scandal, disgust at the level of Westminister corruption and the behaviour of virtually ALL mainstream party MP's

The BNP and other more recent emerging far right groups are on the march filling the political void and with the blinkered attitude of all three major political parties to effectively address the above key issues implies that their strength can only grow which sows the seeds for major civil disturbances during 2010, probably on a par not seen since the 1980's.

Nick Griffin the BNP leader responded to criticism from 4 retired British Generals against the BNP's usage of military symbols from World War 2, which was fought against Nazism's, but now being used to promote Nazism, Nick Griffin gave a veiled threat of purging the military of those that do not tow the BNP party line, much as Stalin and Hitler did during their dictatorships.

The BNP knows that to gain electoral success it needs to improve its public image, therefore today's BBC Question time can expect much sweet talking by the BNP leader, but the fundamental politics of the BNP remain that of a racist and Nazi party as illustrated by Nick Griffin's publically statements.

Nick Griffin is a typical fascist, a man for all people. He is also an outrageous opportunist. There is not a bandwagon or campaign he would not exploit or a political belief he would not jettison if he thought he could benefit.

Nick Griffin on the Holocaust

"I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades. Orthodox opinion also once held that the Earth was flat … I have reached the conclusion that the 'extermination' tale is a mixture of Allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie, and latter witch-hysteria "

On Race

Without the White race, nothing matters. [Other right-wing parties] believe that the answer to the race question is integration and a futile attempt to create ‘Black Britons’, while we affirm that non-Whites have no place here at all and will not rest until every last one has left our land.”

On power

When the crunch comes, power is the product of force and will, not of rational debate. We have to have a body of trained young men capable of defending our organisation. If people come to crack our heads we will break theirs.”

On Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf

The chapter I most enjoyed was the one on propaganda and organisation – there were some really useful ideas there.”

BBC Question Time Audience Bias In Favour of BNP

The Telegraph online is running a story that suggests anti fascism members have been excluded from tonight's question time programme audience in favour of BNP supporters -

BNP members allowed in Question Time audience

Nick Griffin, the BNP’s leader, was accompanied by a handful of supporters, as were the other panelists, but their political opponents from Unite Against Fascism were excluded.

Despite Unite Against Fascism’s complaints, the Corporation insisted that the audience comprised a balance of political factions to avoid the event being hijacked.

Each person who applied was asked to provide their email address and telephone number and questioned about which political party they would vote for if there was a General Election tomorrow.

They were also asked if they fully supported their leader, as well as for their views on the war in Iraq and their stance on Europe.

Anyone found to be entering without a valid ticket was summarily ejected from BBC Television Centre in White City, west London.

In recent months, Question Time has been recorded only an hour or so before its 10.35pm screening time, but the schedule was brought forward to cope with potential problems.

Audience members were allowed to enter the BBC premises at 5pm and filming started at 6pm, giving the producers time to edit any unsuitable footage.

Hundreds of BNP supporters applied for seats, as did anti-fascist groups and members of the mainstream political parties.

A press officer from the BNP was keen to play down any suggestion that they were trying to rig the audience in its favour.

He insisted that “only a couple” of its members were among the audience.

“We didn’t want it full of BNP supporters, we wanted a normal Question Time audience,” he said but added: “There may well be left-leaning supporters who pretend to be from the BNP [to get in], we wouldn’t put it past them.”

Weyman Bennett, from Unite Against Fascism, complained that members from his organisation had been open about their political leanings and were not allowed in as a result.

“We wanted to be open about who we were, but the BBC refused to give us any tickets,” he said.

“We even suggested sending an elderly Holocaust survivor if they were worried about security but that also was refused - so much for impartiality.”

Members of the BNP

A full list of the BNP membership was recently leaked onto the internet listing 12,801 members - see http://wikileaks.org/wiki/..

Nick Griffin - Question Time

While not a supporter of the BNP, I found the witch hunt of Nick Griffin disgusting. Jack Straw's self-righteous tones reflect that of certain Labour voters who bullied, exploited and slandered the vulnerable. Of course, Straw's laws ensure arrest for the victimised who stick up for themselves.

My free speech was denied as I waded through escalating abuse from the above-mentioned bullies. My minority group is genius. Let them without sin throw the first stones.

BNP and above comment.

Totally agree with John M. Clarke comment above.

Stuttering Jack Straw was revealed to have a conscientious objector father during WW2 while decrying the use of military photos by the BNP - poetic justice to a man who like the PM hides behind his sofa when the going gets tough.

I am not a BNP supporter and never will be. I did not see QT nor wanted to since I knew the BNP would be ambushed and the bbc would paper the walls with its own converts, as it has done for the last 10 years under Dimbleby.

The utterances of two Fleet Street hacks to expert questionning by John Humphrey's this morning was classical.

Their answers showed that bigotry in Fleet Street is very alive and well.

Everyone should go on ipod and relisten to that part of the Today Programme.

Question Time

They made a dogs dinner of question time.

They should have let griffin talk more so that he could have hanged himself better.

Instead we got the worst question time in more than a decade.
