Iranian President's Visit Uncovers Western Hypocrisy, Prejudice and Hysteria!

The visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Columbia University on Monday, where he will give a lecture, has created protests from a wide variety of directions.
President Ahmadinejad is well known for speaking his mind, but then so is George Bush, who labels any leader who criticizes the US as a “tyrant”. The media have not helped Ahmadinejad's image with statements like the “Holocaust-denying Iranian President”, or printing comments from protestors who describe him as a “murderous dictator”.
It never fails to amaze me how people's rights and freedom of speech seem to have a different meaning depending on whether you follow the Bush administrations book of “justice” or not.
Columbia University have said that only students will be allowed on campus Monday, for security reasons. Rabbi Avi Weiss, head of the Coalition of Jewish Concerns, responded by saying "It's a perversion of free speech,". Surely, trying to stop Ahmadinejad from speaking is the same thing, isn't it?
Unfortunately, what those who claim to support free speech really mean is, people can only talk about things that agree with their beliefs. The Iranian President has, in the past, revealed some doubt about the Holocaust and the numbers involved. He is of course expressing his opinion and has requested more proof to back up the claims, which is his choice. If his doubts are answered with the proof he seeks, there is no further reason for him to make any “denial”, is there?
Mayor Bloomberg (and the White House) have declined to get involved in the argument, but the government's endless verbal attacks and accusations against Iran have already created a prejudice view of the country, in the eye of some of the US public (which was intentional). A comment by White House spokeswoman, Dana Perino, was a good example of this when she spoke of the Presidents visit “It's a free country. We wish the same were true in Iran,”.
The former UN Ambassador John Bolton (Mr.Angry of America), couldn't resist taking another swipe at the organization he was forced to leave recently, and described the United Nations as a “Twilight Zone” that gives a platform to “tinhorn dictators”. There are of course many who see the White House in much the same way, and a President that “dictates” who should be selected for certain jobs. But I guess Bolton knows that already, seeing as his boss (Bush) appointed him as UN Ambassador in the first place, against the wishes of the Senate! But Bush is not from Iran, so I suppose that's all right?
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly warned the Iranian president to stay away from Ground Zero because his appearance could incite crowds, why would he assume that? Ahmadinejad wants to pay his respects, why should anyone object to that? His country was not behind the 9/11 attack, and neither was Iraq. We are told that Osama bin Laden was the mastermind (you know, that guy that no one can find and who keeps sending messages). But wait a minute, aren't the Bushes very friendly with that family? Surely, if anyone should be barred from visiting Ground Zero, shouldn't it be someone who has closer connections with Osama? Osama bin Laden worked for the CIA, not Iran (or President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad).
Another interesting comment came from Malcolm I. Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, who said of Ahmadinejad “He's more dangerous than Osama bin Laden He has missiles. He has an army which has purchased huge amounts of weapons.” This may come as a surprise Mr. Hoenlein, but Israel (a much smaller country) has a great deal more in comparison, including nuclear weapons! And haven't Israel been buying (or receiving) a huge amount of weapons recently as well? Oh sorry, I forgot, it's OK for Israel to have nuclear weapons and to try and dominate the Middle East, they are not on the “Axis of Evil” list. Yet oddly enough, there are fewer military conflicts involving Iran than there are with Israel.
As with Iraq, the public are being fed the usual BS by the government, yet some people still seem able to swallow it. Maybe those people need to change their diet or find a new cook?
