Britain has become a nation of inventors and the number of people submitting ideas for patents has never been higher. The boom is being fuelled by programmes like Dragons' Den, but how easy is it to cash in on your "eureka" moment?

The Money Programme's Libby Potter meets inventors hoping to make their fortune from a brilliant idea, and entrepreneurs like Sir James Dyson who have, and reveals the top tips for turning your eureka moment into a fortune.

The programme follows two fledgling enterprises as they try to make it big – Jonathan Craymer and Stephen Howes have invented a system to improve chip and pin security by allowing cardholders to enter a different password every time. Securing a million pound investment, they now have to try and sell their idea to big business. But is it a pipe dream, or will we all be using their invention in the near future?

Rowena Mead came up with a new design for a child's toothbrush after struggling to clean her daughter's teeth. She's spent her savings on lawyer's fees to file a patent and build a prototype, but can she interest a big manufacturer in her idea?

Libby meets Sir James Dyson, who's built a £1billion business on the back of his brainwaves. His latest product is a hand drier which blows water off wet hands at 400mph.

The Money Programme also gives viewers tips on how to turn ideas into money, and hears the advice of Ian Fletcher, Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office, who says: "Doing nothing may well mean that an idea which would benefit you, and maybe millions of other people, is lost, so I would just encourage people to act".
