Why Osama bin Laden Was Killed (Not Caught) And The Evidence Destroyed

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAccording to the reports, the death of OBL was preceded by a 40 to 45 minute fire-fight during which three people including the target died (none of the assailants were injured), and the “target” was not armed.

According to my source in Hereford (22 Regiment  “A” Command  as in “A” for Action as opposed to “B” for Backup), that’s just “expletive deleted”.

a): A properly planned and executed operation would have taken the villa and subdued or killed all its hostile occupants in four minutes.

b): Professionals don’t kill people unless they want to; the way it works is called “Tap-Tap” – one to the body then one to the head, but it doesn’t have to go like that, you can aim for the abdomen, that’s non-lethal.

Either the SEALS were completely incompetent, or they were ordered to kill the target, in advance.

So it was an assassination, the good guys finally got the bad guy, and that proves that in the event that you get accused of being a mastermind evil-genius that harmed USA, then USA will spend $3 trillion (according to Joseph Stiglitz) to get you.

But was it bin Laden?

There is the fairy-tale about the “burial at sea” which has about as much credibility as Tony Blair’s story about WMD.

It’s well known that the US Intelligence Services are serially incompetent on matters of Islam, they say so themselves, but you would have thought that with all that planning (they build a mock-up of the villa), someone would have worked out that taking a dead body and dumping it in the sea where no one can find it, is most certainly not in line with Islamic traditions.

The correct procedure would have been (a) to ask the family if they wanted the body (and handed it over if they did), and (b) if not, to dig a grave on dry land and place the head pointing towards Mecca. I’m not Muslim and I have only minimal interest in comparative religion, but even I know that, and if the “Intelligence” had wanted a second opinion they could have looked that up on Wikipedia.

In point of fact, you don’t even have to tell anyone where the grave is; but the real point is that if there is a grave, and you know where it is, you can exhume the body.

And with regard to the “swift” burial, that applies when people die of natural causes, if not you do an autopsy, and you keep the body on ice until all the questions that might be asked, are answered.

It would have been nice to have an autopsy report, one that for example checked that the surgery on the corpse’s kidney was consistent with the records of the surgery performed at the American Hospital in Dubai, a few months prior to 9/11.

Did OBL deserve the “Tap-Tap” treatment?

Fair-enough, by all accounts he was a “bad person” (allegedly – and there is not much hard evidence that would stand up in court), but if he was, he “deserved to die”, although whether he deserved to get the “Tap-Tap” treatment, rather than be apprehended and put on trail in a court in USA, or the International Criminal Court, is less than obvious.

Err…except that USA has not signed on to the International Criminal Court, which is why they had to delay the announcement of Saddam Hussein’s capture for six months (the dates on the trees in the photo put that in July), until there was a “government” (of sorts) in Iraq to hand him over to.

Ah, but there again, the operation in Afghanistan is (nominally) a NATO operation, so they could have got the boys from Hereford to do the job or at least provide the “A-Team”, in which case (a) there would not have been a “accidental-on-purpose-tap-tap”, and there would have been a legal way to hand him over to the ICC.

Except – darn it gets complicated, the UN mandate on Afghanistan does not cover night-time assassination raids into Pakistan.

Perhaps the real “problem” in any case, is that although most people agree OBL played an important role in 9/11 (and he claimed to have been behind the attack), there wasn’t much hard evidence against the man that would have stood up in court. It would have been ironic, if they had captured him, put him on trail in line with the best practice of International Law, and he had got off for lack of evidence!

Much easier to do the “Tap-Tap”.

Was OBL the mastermind”?

There is good evidence that OBL financed 9/11 and it is highly likely that he played a role in recruiting the 15 Saudi’s (out of a total of 19 terrorists) to take part in the 9/11 attack (none of the remaining four were from Afghanistan by-the-way).

How much of a mastermind he was, is debatable.

Prior to 9/11 Osama’s most “successful” terrorist operation was the Nairobi bombing, which killed over 100 Kenyans; this is how it went down:

1: Two Yemenis were dispatched to Kenya, via Mombasa.

2: Someone (else) procured a truck full of fertiliser mixed with diesel (same methodology McVeigh used in Oklahoma), plus a detonator, plus a revolver.

3: On the day the plan was that one would drive the truck, the other “operative” would get out of the truck when they were stopped at the security gate, shoot the guard, and open the gate so the truck could get closer.

4: But it was a hot day, and on the way there, the “shooter” took off his coat.

5: Then when he got out of the truck to shoot the guard, he realised that he had forgotten his revolver in his coat, so he ran away.

6: The driver then detonated the bomb, but the shooter was not killed, just injured; and so he went back to his hotel room.

7: There was no “Plan B” for him, so he stayed there for a few weeks until he was tracked down and arrested.

Some “mastermind”…compare that to the slickness of 9/11.

A more likely explanation is that the 9/11 operation was “helped” by someone else, and all that OBL did was to organize the finance and the “soldiers”.

And the most likely candidate for that job was the people who smuggle billions of dollars of drugs into USA every year (successfully), who saw their business under real threat by the “lunatic” Taliban who had banned opium production in Afghanistan.

In 1999 there were 500 tons of heroin produced from the Afghanistan crop (enough to supply the world for a year), in 2011 that went to zero, a few years later it was up to 800 Tons.

Now that’s what I call “Mission Accomplished”.

But if OBL had survived (if it really was him), well all might have been revealed.
