This Economy Left Millions of Americans Behind / Politics / Social Issues

By: Patrick_Watson

Remember “No Child Left Behind,” George W. Bush’s education reform plan? Congress passed it in 2001.

Whether that law actually helped is subject to debate, but Bush picked a good name for it. Humans are social creatures. Our instincts tell us to make sure no one in our tribe gets “left behind,” economically or otherwise.

That instinct breaks down sometimes. Or we disagree about who belongs in our tribe. It’s a big problem in either case.

Hence, when people say even the poorest Americans live better than their grandparents did, or better than those in other countries, they miss the point.

Past generations and people overseas are the wrong comparison. We get angry when our own group leaves us behind.

Racial Reparations Another Version of Slavery / Politics / Social Issues

By: BATR

Racial neutrality was becoming an entrenched aspect in the populist general culture. Yet, the faction of continuing tribal dissention, once again, raised its Identity discontent to keep and widen the gap among varied sub groups. Slavery has never been limited to people of African descent. But to suffer through the repetitive diatribe that Blacks deserve sole recompense for their distress because of the color of their skin is offensive to any advocate of sincere social justice. By any objective standard the last half century since the racial riots that burned urban centers of rebellion; the advancement of Afro-Americans improved in most aspects. Those who assimilated into the mainstream culture usually shared the benefits of unification. However, the lingering resentment that eats away at achieving civil co-existence is brought up whenever it is politically opportune for the power hungry race baiters.

The World's Saddest And Happiest Countries - Hanke's Annual Misery Index 2018 / Politics / Social Issues

By: Steve_H_Hanke

The human condition inhabits a vast continuum between "miserable" and "happy." In the sphere of economics, misery tends to flow from high inflation, steep borrowing costs and unemployment. The most surefire way to mitigate that misery is economic growth. All else equal, happiness tends to blossom when growth is strong, inflation and interest rates are low, and jobs are plentiful.

Many countries measure and report these economic metrics on a regular basis. Comparing them, nation by nation, can tell us a lot about where in the world people are sad or happy.

A Tide In The Affairs Of Men / Politics / Social Issues

By: Raul_I_Meijer

Sometimes we find ourselves merely pondering, not so much solving big problems. Is there playing out, in the world at large, or at least the world of men, something akin to the Kondratieff cycle in economics, a larger cycle, a force, a tide, an energy, that we mostly ignore, but which drives our ‘affairs’? Dr. D. thinks there may well be. But if so, what happens to free will?

Dr. D.:

Dr. D.: I seem to have taken a dark and grumpy turn lately.  Probably the winter, but as I get older, I find the present state of the world more and more frustrating.

I fear with the present madness it’s just de rigor to 1) label people as something they’re not, even the OPPOSITE of what they are, 2) furiously fight that strawman and 3) not care.  I have no explanation for it, but there are times and tides in the affairs of men (as Shakespeare would say) which flood you out and cost a fortune.  …Or something like that.

Collapse of Society Almost Complete / Politics / Social Issues

By: BATR

The experiences from South America provide lessons totally applicable to the United States. If you think that the bread lines in Venezuela cannot come to our country, take a look at what is happening in the rest of Latin America. While economic failures contribute to the slide in prosperity and government expansion adds to greater indebtedness, the complicity of their citizens provides the environment for even bigger demands. Daniel J. Mitchell is a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute writes in Brazil, Big Government and Mitchell’s Theorem of Societal Collapse. His summary is accurate and precise.

America's 30 Blocks of Holes / Politics / Social Issues

By: James_Quinn

“If you have been voting for politicians who promise to give you goodies at someone else’s expense, then you have no right to complain when they take your money and give it to someone else, including themselves.”Thomas Sowell

“The fact that so many successful politicians are such shameless liars is not only a reflection on them, it is also a reflection on us. When the people want the impossible, only liars can satisfy.”Thomas Sowell

Winter Of Our Discontent Meets Fyre Festival / Politics / Social Issues

By: James_Quinn

“When a condition or a problem becomes too great, humans have the protection of not thinking about it. But it goes inward and minces up with a lot of other things already there and what comes out is discontent and uneasiness, guilt and a compulsion to get something–anything–before it is all gone.” ― John Steinbeck, The Winter of Our Discontent

2018 Chaos, 2019 Mayhem / Politics / Social Issues

By: Raul_I_Meijer

It took me a while to decide which word(s) best define the past year and the next one, but I think this is pretty much it. 2018 was chaotic more than anything else, and that chaos will give rise to mayhem in 2019.

What I think is striking is that this is true across the board, in all walks of life so to speak. In finance, in politics, in energy markets, in ecological matters, and perhaps most of all in the ways all these topics are being covered by what once were trusted media.

I’m going to have to come back to all these topics separately, so it’s promising to be a very busy holiday season, but it’s also good to try and put them together in one place, if only to show how interconnected everything is. And how futile it is to look at the economy without seeing its connection to energy flows and ecosystems. And vice versa.

Politics and Economics in Times of Crisis / Politics / Social Issues

By: Raul_I_Meijer

The news still isn’t the news, and I’m getting afraid it never will be again, because not the news just simply sells so much better than plain old real events. Maria Butina suddenly popped back into the public eye, because she was either charged with something or confessed to it. And I’m thinking, excuse me, but that poor girl has been kept in isolation for how long now? And for what reason exactly?

I vividly remember thinking that when she first became ‘news’ for ‘infiltrating’ the NRA, for which there were plenty cute pictures taken, I remember thinking she would have been 22 or 23 years old when as a super- devious Russian redhead she allegedly penetrated the trillion dollar NRA, and the trillion dollar Republican Party, and the Trump campaign, which according to some people is now worth negative $1 trillion.

4 Societal Trends in the UK / Politics / Social Issues

By: Dylan_Moran

Every year we sit down and take a look at the trends in society; how the world is changing and what is causing that change. Technology remains a major factor of course, thanks to automation and digitisation, but there are several trends that have little to do with tech. Here’s a closer look at 4 societal trends in the UK.

Incidents and Accidents, Hints and Allegations / Politics / Social Issues

By: Raul_I_Meijer

Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-semite. Julian Assange is a rapist, a Russian agent and a terrorist. Donald Trump is an anti-semite, a rapist AND a Russian agent. Vladimir Putin wants to invade and enslave the entire western world and to that end employs Assange, Trump, maybe also Corbyn(?), as well as thousands upon thousands of hackers and murderers who make people vote for whoever Putin chooses, and poison former Russian agents on western soil.

These allegations, and there’s many more of them, have a number of things in common. Most importantly, they serve to change your mind. They serve to change your perception of reality. They seek to whip up your support for the very people and forces that launch them into the media.

Globalist / Politics / Social Issues

By: Raul_I_Meijer

I am often confused by events that happen and by things that people say. But then I think them over and they mostly become less confusing, even if often slivers of confusion remain. This was again the case yesterday morning. Donald Trump went after the Koch brothers, the one biggest symbol of everything that’s wrong with American politics, and I expected the anti-Trump echo-chamber to finally agree on something with him.

But no, what was I thinking? The echo-chamber has deafened and blinded its inhabitants for far too long and far too loudly for one single word of agreement to come out of it. Trump could sing the praises of Hillary Clinton tomorrow morning and it would be used against him. This is not new, it’s been going on for his entire presidency, and before, but it’s still good for people to acknowledge that it’s getting worse be the day – or better perhaps in their eyes?!

Nanny State: A Permit Patty and BBQ Becky In Every Neighborhood / Politics / Social Issues

By: Jeff_Berwick

Who needs paramilitary police with the legal authority to shoot you at will, when you’ve got crazy citizens like Permit Patty?

It seems like a disturbing new trend: the rise of busybody code-enforcers. Or, as I call it, slave-on-slave crime.

It’s also called Stockholm Syndrome. These miserable victims of the state have learned to take pride in reinforcing the matrix of arbitrary rules and regulations that make life more difficult for us all.

Universal Basic Income to the Rescue? / Politics / Social Issues

By: Michael_Pento

The Keynesian Illuminati that run the world are now scrambling to find solutions to the rampant condition of income inequality that they themselves have created. After a decade of global fiscal and monetary policy madness, which were in effect Robin Hood in reverse, they are now seeking to repair the damage caused to the middle classes by making them become permanent wards of the states, just as they strip away ever more of their freedoms.

Kanye Is Right: Slavery Is A Choice And We're All Slaves Today / Politics / Social Issues

By: Jeff_Berwick

I generally ignore pop culture. It is almost completely controlled propaganda from the Powers That Shouldn’t Be.

But, now and then some celebrities break from their MK Ultra mind control programming and say something I can’t ignore, like in 2005 when Kanye West went on live TV programming and said “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

Most recently, Kanye seemed to “lose it” during a concert performance and was taken offstage and then put into a mental facility where he was likely reprogrammed.

Universal Guaranteed Income / Politics / Social Issues

By: BATR

What is next from the egalitarian socialists? A guaranteed income is becoming the new catch concept that is a desired destination for the limousine liberals. If you ask the tax payer, It's time for America to embrace guaranteed income, their first response will be how do you pay for such a benefit? Intuitively they know they will most likely not be included in the scheme and when the obligation burden befalls on those dreaded 1%, you just know that class warfare is doing well on the two-hundredth birthday of Karl Marx. Based upon a recent SF gate poll, Majority of Millennials now favor universal basic income. Amazing the level of economic insanity that comes out of the asylums of higher learning.

The Left Celebrates Commie Day / Politics / Social Issues

By: BATR

The first of May is "Commie Day" for the left. The systematic destruction of the American culture has been caused by the Marxists who want to call themselves Progressives. The Democrat Party sees a Bernie Sanders as a standard bearer of Lenin's ideology and a Hillary Clinton as an offspring of Stalin. There is no semblance of a loyal opposition or pretense that bipartisan compromise can be attained in a civilized manner. No; the Left has declared war on the traditional principles upon which American was established. Citizens of good will need to face the enemy within and admit that the Federal government has a Fifth column that wants to overturn the few remnants of the Republic and impose a full blown dictatorship of the ideological pure collectivists.

Winter is Coming - Coming Storms Will Bring Out the Best and Worst in Humanity / Politics / Social Issues

By: James_Quinn

“The very survival of the nation will feel at stake. Sometime before the year 2025, America will pass through a great gate in history, commensurate with the American Revolution, Civil War, and twin emergencies of the Great Depression and World War II.” – Strauss & Howe – The Fourth Turning

In Part One of this article I laid out the reasons for Gray Champions arising to meet challenges during crisis periods in history. In Part Two of this article I assessed the configuration of Gray Champions throughout the world and the potential impact on the course of this Fourth Turning.

WINTER IS COMING - The Ongoing Fourth Turning Crisis / Politics / Social Issues

By: James_Quinn

“Summer will end soon enough, and childhood as well.” – George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones

“Reflect on what happens when a terrible winter blizzard strikes. You hear the weather warning but probably fail to act on it. The sky darkens. Then the storm hits with full fury, and the air is a howling whiteness. One by one, your links to the machine age break down. Electricity flickers out, cutting off the TV. Batteries fade, cutting off the radio. Phones go dead. Roads become impassible, and cars get stuck. Food supplies dwindle. Day to day vestiges of modern civilization – bank machines, mutual funds, mass retailers, computers, satellites, airplanes, governments – all recede into irrelevance.
