Financial Armageddon Looms On The Horizon As The EURO UNION IMPLOSION Nears / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
History is testament that an ill-conceived fetus is doomed to a handicapped crippled adulthood. Thusly, many rational pundits perceive the hodge-podge jumbled union of many European nations, known as the Euro Union. But just as oil and water cannot be blended nor melded into a stable liquid, it logically follows that the haphazard mixture of many radically diverse nations are likewise immiscible…and will probably collapse in the not too distant future.

Wall Street Is Falling Off A Cliff, And The Bottom Is A Long Way Down / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
For the past 50 or so years, the quickest way for a sharp young sociopath to get rich has been to join an investment bank or hedge fund. The former were riding a “regulatory capture” gravy train that became ever-more-lucrative as new government agencies morphed into subsidiaries of Wall Street. Hedge funds, meanwhile, were surfing the wave of easy money that inevitably results from putting banks in charge of interest rates and government spending.

The Next 2008 Style Financial Crisis Event Is Lurching Towards Us / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
As we noted yesterday, the ECB cannot and will not be able to generate GDP growth or inflation.
The EU is simply too leveraged. You cannot have an entire region sporting a Debt to GDP of over 90%… with banks leveraged at 26 to 1 using sovereign debt as collateral on their derivatives trades, and “fix it” using NIRP or QE.

Consensus Forming: China Heading Back Into Financial Crisis / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
China’s historic post-2009 debt binge flew largely under the radar — fooling most observers into thinking the global economy was recovering rather than just re-leveraging.
Now Beijing is back at it, borrowing over $1 trillion in this year’s first quarter, buying up commodities and creating the illusion of global growth. But this time the scam hasn’t gone unnoticed. Reporters, editors and money managers seem, at last, to be catching on. Some representative headlines:

Martin Armstrong: ”Collapse In Government Is Incoming, Markets Are Going To Start Responding!” / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
FRA Co-founder Gordon T. Long delineates political developments and their consequences on the global economy with Martin Armstrong, founder of Armstrong Economics.
Martin Armstrong began his studies into market behavior when first becoming fascinated by the events during the Crash of 1966. He pursued his studies of economics searching for answers behind the cycle of boom and busts that plagued society both in Princeton and in London. He began to do forecasting as a service to institutional cash market players in gold that included Swiss banks.Armstronghad the unusual background in computer science in hardware and software and was perhaps the first to begin to apply his diverse knowledge from two fields together. He began creating a global model in the mid-70s and was publishing the results from about 1972.

The Next Financial Crisis Will Be THE Crisis / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
For six years, the world has operated under a complete delusion that Central Banks somehow fixed the 2008 Crisis
All of the arguments claiming this defied common sense. A 5th grader would tell you that you cannot solve a debt problem by issuing more debt. If the below chart was a problem BEFORE 2008… there is no way that things are better now. After all, we’ve just added another $20 trillion in debt to the US system.

Subprime Auto Loans: the Next Financial Crisis Shoe to Drop? / Interest-Rates / Financial Crisis 2016
Booming auto sales have more to do with low rates and easy financing than they do with the urge to buy a new vehicle. In the last few years, car buyers have borrowed nearly $1 trillion to finance new and used autos. Unfortunately, much of that money was lent to borrowers who have less-than-perfect credit and who might not be able to repay the debt. Recently there has been a surge in delinquencies among subprime borrowers whose loans were packaged into bonds and sold to investors. The situation is similar to the trouble that preceded the Crash of 2008 when prices on subprime mortgage-backed securities (MBS) suddenly collapsed sending the global financial system off a cliff. No one expects that to happen with auto bonds, but story does help to illustrate that the regulatory problems still haven’t been fixed.

The Financial Crisis Has Just Begun; Is The American Dream Is Over? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
Global Central Banks have run out of ‘ammunition’. Since March 2008, Central Banks have cut interest rates 637 times and have purchased a staggering $12.3 trillion dollars’ worth of assets. There is not much more that they can do, and currently, the next ‘great crisis’ is upon us.
The global economy and the global financial system will continue to weaken before our very own eyes.

BoJ and ECB Bond Buying - Well That Didn’t Work / Interest-Rates / Financial Crisis 2016
The Bank of Japan and European Central Bank eased recently, which is to say they stepped up their bond buying and/or pushed interest rates further into negative territory. These kinds of things are proxies for currency devaluation in the sense that money printing and lower interest rates generally cause the offending country’s currency to be seen as less valuable by traders and savers, sending its exchange rate down versus those of its trading partners.

Warning From the Bank for International Settlements : The Calm Before the Storm? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is worried that recent ructions in the equities markets could be a sign that another financial crisis is brewing. In a sobering report titled “Uneasy calm gives way to turbulence” the BIS states grimly: “We may not be seeing isolated bolts from the blue but the signs of a gathering storm that has been building for a long time.”
The authors of the report are particularly concerned that the plunge in stock prices and the slowdown in global growth are taking place at the same time that investor confidence in central banks is waning. The Bank Of Japan’s announcement that it planned to introduce negative interest rates (aka–NIRP or negative interest rate policy) in late January illustrates this point. The BOJ hoped that by surprising the market, the policy would have greater impact on borrowing thus generating more growth. But, instead, the announcement set off a “second phase of turbulence” in stock and currency markets as nervous investors sold off risk assets and moved into safe haven bonds. The BOJ’s action was seen by many as act of desperation by a policymaker that is rapidly losing control of the system. According to the BIS:

Why This Financial Crisis Will Be Worse Than 2008 / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
For six years, the world has operated under a complete delusion that Central Banks somehow fixed the 2008 Crisis.
All of the arguments claiming this defied common sense. A 5th grader would tell you that you cannot solve a debt problem by issuing more debt. Similarly, anyone with a functioning brain could tell you that a bunch of academics with no real-world experience, none of whom have ever started a business or created a single job can’t “save” the economy.

My belief is that the FED will abandon its plan to raise short-term rates in March 2016, given the “economic global contraction” in economic data including the Baltic Dry Index and troubled banking systems in the European Union.

Why Negative Interest Rates Will Fail / Interest-Rates / Financial Crisis 2016
It is now just a matter of time before the US central bank follows the central banks of Japan, the EU, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland in setting negative rates on reserve deposits.
The goal of such rates is to force banks to lend their excess reserves. The assumption is that such lending will boost aggregate demand and help struggling economies recover. Using the same central bank logic as in 2008, the solution to a debt problem is to add on more debt. Yet, there is an old adage: you can bring a horse to water but you cannot make him drink! With the world economy sinking into recession, few banks have credit-worthy customers and many banks are having difficulties collecting on existing loans.

Financial Meltdown 2008-style in 2016? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2016
As the global market crisis continues, the danger posed by this crisis to the U.S. economy continues to be underestimated by economists and central bankers. A report recently showed that U.S. job openings surged in December and the number of American voluntarily quitting work hit a nine-year high. According to the report, this data points to “labor market strength despite a slowdown in economic growth.”
Further commenting on the supposedly improving labor market, Reuters stated: “The signs of a robust jobs market could ease concerns about the health of the economy, which were underscored by other reports on Feb. 9 showing a drop in small business confidence in January to a two-year low and further declines in wholesale inventories.”

Deutsche Bank is the one in question. This German banking powerhouse has had its liquidity called into question and is now on the fence, being attacked from all sides as article after article is released pointing to the dangers the bank now finds itself in.

By Justin Spittler
A major central bank just made a desperate move…
If you’ve been reading the Dispatch, you know we’re living through a gigantic “global monetary experiment.”
In short, global central banks cut interest rates to zero to fight the 2008 financial crisis. They’ve held interest rates near zero ever since.
