Gold Price 2017 - Jim Rickards and I Are on the Same Page / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: The_Gold_Report

Risks to the global economy was the main topic of the conversation between precious metals expert Jim Rickards and Lior Gantz, editor of Wealth Research Group.

On the 28th of March, I sat down for an interview with New York Times Best-Selling Author James Rickards, and we mainly discussed risks to the global economy.

Technicals for Gold Mining Stocks Remain Weak / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

Last week we wrote that precious metals should see upside follow through but to be wary of the 200-day moving averages and February highs before becoming excited. The metals did follow through as Gold gained 1.5% and Silver gained 1.9% (for the week) but the miners disappointed. GDX gained only 1.1% while GDXJ finished in the red as did junior silver companies (SILJ). As spring beckons, the gold stocks are showing relative and internal weakness.

Silver Mining Stock Fundamentals / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Zeal_LLC

The silver miners’ stocks have had a roller-coaster ride of a year so far.  They surged, plunged, and then started surging again last week on a less-hawkish-than-expected Fed.  Such big volatility has spawned similar outsized swings in sentiment, distorting investors’ perceptions of major silver miners.  But their recently-reported fourth-quarter operating and financial results reveal the true underlying fundamental realities.

Four times a year publicly-traded companies release treasure troves of valuable information in the form of quarterly reports.  Required by securities regulators, these quarterly results are exceedingly important for investors and speculators.  They offer a clear snapshot of what’s really going on fundamentally, in individual silver miners and this small sector as a whole.  There’s no silver-stock data I look forward to more.

Potential Bottoming Patterns in Gold and Silver Precious Metals Stocks Complex... / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Rambus_Chartology

There is a combo chart for the PM complex I've been following, on the short term 10 month daily look, which shows a potential H&S bottom forming. I put a neckline symmetry line on the charts to get a feel for where the low for the right shoulder may form. Some are fairly parallel to the neckline like GLD, SLV and the HUI with GDXJ and SIL being the most unparalleled. The CDNX is showing the most weakness as it probably has to do with some of the small cap energy companies.

The Demise of the Gold and Silver Bull Run is Greatly Exaggerated / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Peter_Degraaf

A few analysts are once again beating the drums for much lower gold and silver prices - supposedly just around the corner. They mistake the testing of a recent breakout for a turnaround in the main trend. In the process they are sowing confusion. Here are some charts that show the main trend, along with reasons why the price of gold and silver is on track for a sharp rise, thanks to bullish fundamentals.

An Analog for the Gold Stocks Correction / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

The gold stocks bounced strongly today after the February jobs report confirmed the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates next week. While precious metals rallied strongly following the previous two hikes, I’m not so sure today marks the start of a big rebound. For one, the Federal Reserve could hike rates again in July. Second and more important, the technical setup argues for more back and forth action in the weeks and months ahead. While the current price action in the gold stocks is different from that in the previous cyclical bull markets, we do think we have found one viable comparison for the current correction.

Gold Mining Stocks Q4 2016 Fundamentals / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Zeal_LLC

The gold miners’ stocks have corrected hard in recent weeks, hammered by a gold pullback driven by soaring Fed-rate-hike odds.  Like any considerable selloff, this has spawned serious bearish sentiment.  But the gold miners’ underlying operating fundamentals remain quite strong, proving the recent selling was purely psychological.  This sector’s just-reported fourth-quarter results are impressive, very bullish.

Four times a year publicly-traded companies release treasure troves of valuable information in the form of quarterly reports.  Required by securities regulators, these quarterly results are exceedingly important for investors and speculators.  They dispel all the sentimental distortions surrounding prevailing stock-price levels, revealing the underlying hard fundamental realities.  They serve to re-anchor perceptions.

More Downside Potential in the Gold Stocks / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

While we expected the gold stocks to correct and test GDX $22 and GDXJ $35, we did not expect it to happen so quickly. It literally took only three days! Gold stocks rebounded on Friday and managed to close the week above those key levels. While gold stocks could bounce or consolidate for a few days, we would advise patience as lower levels could be tested as spring begins.

Gold Stocks Enormous Daily Slide / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: P_Radomski_CFA

Yesterday was just another period of back-and-forth movement for gold, silver, the USD Index and even the general stock market – but not for precious metals mining stocks. Gold stocks and silver stocks plunged very visibly - there are very important implications of this move and they are not bullish.

Let’s take a closer look at the charts (charts courtesy of http://stockcharts.com), starting with the GDX ETF (proxy for both gold and silver stocks).

$XAU – Retesting the 200 Day Moving Average - Video / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Gary_Savage

Mining stocks have broken their daily cycle trend line and are likely to retest their 200 day moving average over the next week or so. This would potentially allow the daily RSI(5) to push down to an oversold reading near/below 30, give the rising 50 day moving average more time to catch up to price, and trigger the stops of traders who bought the breakout above the 200 day moving average within the past month. This is a normal corrective move that is unlikely to last much more than a week.

Gold and Gold Stocks Hit Upside Targets. Now What? / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

The precious metals sector has reached the upside targets we've written about since the start of 2017. Gold has touched almost $1250/oz ($1246/oz high) while GDXJ exceeded our $41 target and GDX nearly reached $26. The glass half empty case is the sector is now at strong resistance levels and any immediate upside will be difficult to sustain. On the other hand, the gold stocks are showing the internal (strong advance/decline line) and relative strength (leadership against Gold) that bodes for additional gains. There may be some more upside potential but the risk of a medium term correction looms in the background.

XAU/Gold Ratio : The Deep Dive / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: SurfCity

Still waiting patiently for another possible nibble at some Miner positions. In the meantime, what is the XAU:Gold ratio and why is it important?

The Ratio clearly shows you that If you are going to invest or trade Gold/Silver Mining stocks you had best have some kind of time horizon to harvest profits. Why? The Ratio peaked in favor of the XAU all the way back in 1983. Yes the miners have underperformed Gold as a long term investment over that long period of time.

Gold Mining Stocks Could Halve In 2017 / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Bob_Kirtley

Fed Hikes and Their Impact on Gold

When the first hike was delivered, along with the intention to deliver 3-4 more, gold prices were hovering above $1000. Gold now sits over $100 higher than it was at the time of the first hike, having rallied to $1375 when hikes were taken off the table. In our view one hike will see gold test $1000, two will see $1000 break, and three hikes would see $720 tested.

Precious Metals v. Mining Stocks: What You Need to Know / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: MoneyMetals

By David Smith : Most readers of this column own (or plan to own) physical precious metals – gold and silver, perhaps even some platinum or palladium. They may also own mining stocks.

But which category is "best"? It's like asking, "What's the most efficient exercise?" or "What's the best fishing lure?" Truth be known, it's really about what you wish to accomplish! Here is my considered opinion...

Gold Stocks Leading but Approaching Trump Resistance Levels / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2017

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

Although we expected a rally in the gold mining sector, we have been surprised by its strength and recent buying pressure. From the lowest ticks, Gold has rallied less than 6% but GDX has gained 25% and GDXJ has soared 36%. This rebound adds to the evidence that the gold stocks are leading the metal. That being said, the gold stocks are approaching some strong resistance levels which coincide with Trump's election victory.
