Stock Market Extreme Panic Volatility / Stock-Markets / Volatility

By: Zeal_LLC

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIf it is not already happening, someday soon some entrepreneur will start selling t-shirts proclaiming “I Survived the Great Stock Panic of 2008”. The last few months' market action has been so unprecedented, and so brutally unforgiving to trade, that emerging from it ready to keep trading is an impressive feat. Many traders have lost everything because of their leverage while many more have totally given up on trading.

As a speculator, I found this stock panic very painful like everyone else and I can't wait for the markets to resume some semblance of normalcy. But as a student of the markets, the last few months were the most fascinating I have ever witnessed. People are going to be talking about and studying the Great Stock Panic of 2008 for generations. Yet we got to live through it and witness its fury firsthand in real-time!

Stock, Commodities and Currency Futures Markets Analysis 12th December / Stock-Markets / Futures Trading

By: INO

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe March NASDAQ 100 was sharply lower overnight due to profit taking triggered by disappointment over the senate's failure to pass a bailout bill for the auto industry. The overnight sell off has led to a decline below the 20-day moving average crossing at 1154.67. Stochastics and the RSI are overbought and are turning bearish signaling that a short-term top might be in or is near. Closes below the 20-day moving average crossing at 1154.67 would confirm that a short- term top has been posted while opening the door for sideways to lower prices possibly into the end of this year.

Stock Markets Nosedive as Senate Says No to Auto Bailout / Stock-Markets / Credit Crisis Bailouts

By: PaddyPowerTrader

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleDetroit's auto bailout drives down a Congressional cul-de-sac. To add to this, GM has hired a bankruptcy lawyer, Bank of America is to cut 35k jobs and weekly jobless claims have soared to 573k (a two year high). Just to rub salt in the wounds, JP Morgan's Jamie Dimon tells us that 2009 is going to be another anus horribulus horror show for banks. Its no wonder the Dow Future is off 275 as I scribble.

Stock Market Hit by Afternoon Sell-Off! / Stock-Markets / US Stock Markets

By: Harry_Boxer

The markets had a solid morning and reached the 4-day declining tops lines by late morning, stalled there and consolidated bullishly. But, after 3 or 4 failed attempts at breaking out they rolled over, broke short-term support, and then took out important secondary support and had a very sharp sell-off late in the day. The market bounced around in the last half hour, but for the most part closed near the lows for the day.

Bernanke and Paulson Attempting to Resuscitate Flawed Market Model / Stock-Markets / Credit Crisis Bailouts

By: Mike_Whitney

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleEven though the Federal Reserve is now the biggest single participant in the financial system, the myth of a "free market" still lingers on. Go figure? The Fed has expanded its balance sheet by $2 trillion, guaranteed $8.3 trillion of dodgy mortgage-backed paper, provided a backstop for bank deposits, money markets, commercial paper, and created 8 separate lending facilities to ensure that underwater financial institutions can still appear to be solvent. The whole system is a state subsidized operation buoyed on a taxpayer-provided flotation device which bears no resemblance to an invisible hand.

Return of the Boring “Normal” Stock Market / Stock-Markets / Global Stock Markets

By: PaddyPowerTrader

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAfter a year plus when we have become comfortable with wild intra swings, it seemed odd to have a day when nothing happened twice . Equities, lead by energy and commodity stocks, finished modestly higher in thin end of year trading.

Stock Market Indices Consolidate as Prelude to Upside Breakout / Stock-Markets / US Stock Markets

By: Harry_Boxer

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe markets had three distinct parts of the session. They were up in the morning, down mid-day and back up late in the session to close with gains for the day. Modest gains, but gains nevertheless.

By: Richard_Shaw

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWe are waiting watchfully for a good re-entry point for US equities using the substantial cash position we raised last summer.

The critical factors we are watching to identify a prudent re-entry point — information we will use to become comfortable that the storm we avoided has passed by — are:

Indian Tech Stocks in Trouble / Stock-Markets / India

By: Money_and_Markets

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleTony Sagami writes: The deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India dominated the global headlines last week. What didn't get a lot of attention, though, was the reason behind the attacks.

The terrorists attacked the commercial heart of India — Mumbai's financial district. And I believe their purpose was to destabilize India's democracy and capitalist economy.

Nasdaq Q's Coil Pattern Not Necessarily Bullish / Stock-Markets / Tech Stocks

By: Mike_Paulenoff

It should come as no surprise that the Q's (NASDAQ: QQQQ) have been carving out a coil pattern off of Monday's high at 30.46. Normally, a coil at the top of a potent upmove should be considered bullish, and should resolve to the upside -- in this case in a thrust to new recovery highs projected into the 31.25 area. Normally?

Let me say up front that I have no idea whether or not the greatly expected bear market rally will materialize anytime soon.

The Stock Market As Time Machine / Stock-Markets / Dividends

By: David_Haas

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleI am sure very few people look at it this way but, in reality, the stock market is actually used by most investors as a means of “cheating time” rather than simply as a means of making money. Please read on and allow me to explain.

Beware of the Stock Market Valuations Trap / Stock-Markets / Stock Market Valuations

By: Money_Morning

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleLouis Basenese writes: this your warning…

With thousands of stocks down 50% (or more), investors are salivating over the bargains. But for every true deal, there are at least three “value traps” - stocks destined to languish at depressed levels indefinitely. Or worse, get cheaper still.

How to Invest Like Warren Buffett / Stock-Markets / Investing

By: Investment_U

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleNot long ago I excerpted a recent New York Times column by Warren Buffett explaining his take on the recent market sell-off.

Despite the dour economic outlook, Buffett expects U.S. companies to report record profits within five years. He is getting fully invested in stocks in his own personal account.

Stock, Commodities and Currency Futures Markets Analysis 10th December / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets

By: INO

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe March NASDAQ 100 was higher overnight as it extends this week's rally above the 20-day moving average. Stochastics and the RSI are becoming overbought but remain bullish signaling that sideways to higher prices are possible near-term. If March extends this week's rally, the reaction high crossing at 1321.75 is the next upside target. Closes below the 20-day moving average crossing at 1158.76 would temper the near-term friendly outlook in the index.

Stock Market Turnaround Tuesday! / Stock-Markets / US Stock Markets

By: Harry_Boxer

The markets had a turnaround Tuesday. Despite the fact the futures were lower and the markets opened down sharply, they held support and rallied very sharply back, taking the Nasdaq 100 up to 1251 and change, a new multi-week rally high. However, the S&P did not take out yesterday's highs at that point, and when they pulled back and consolidated and then broke support the indices went sharply lower to test yesteday's lows on the Nasdaq 100, took them out on the S&P but couldn’t get the NDX to confirm.

Stock Market Rally Was Running on Empty- “The 12 Bailouts of Xmas” / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets

By: PaddyPowerTrader

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleStocks retreated yesterday as the euphoria about Obama's package gave way to a more somber reflection on more layoff announcements (Sony, Citibank, Rio Tinto, Skf and Molex) and poor earnings outlooks (Nokia, Texas Instruments, Broadcom, Danahe and Samsung). Bellwether stock FedEx fell 16%, hardly an omen of a 2009 economic pickup.
