Too, too many essays have appeared across the political spectrums that have encouraged Americans to NOT vote on November 6. They are dead wrong!

Americans are lucky to be participating in Democracy that functions through a process called "voting"! So far, for them it remains a "right". But what rights they don't use, they will lose. Guaranteed!!!

By not voting, the messages are: I don't care! I don't give a damn! I don't like either evil! Democracy is dead anyhow! My vote doesn't count for anything. I protest. I revolt. I decline. I want nothing to do with politics. I'm anti-government. Yet, privately, they argue and rage over issues. Yet, they complain about people becoming sheep. Yet, they read or passively view events and change nothing! Yet, they sit and watch others control their lives and country but never blame themselves for failing to participate or motivate others -- not through chaos, race-baiting, hate mongering, guns, conspiracy theories, anarchy or Hell and Damnation sermonizing, but through the ballot. If that fairly represents a portion of the public (small but growing), these people are very bad examples of citizenship in any Democracy. They are not activists or patriots, they are nihilists, cynics and do-nothing critics! They are naught! When a majority fail to vote, Democracy is naught.

"We sometimes need to lose a thing in order to appreciate what we once had."

And if someday Democracy is taken away, who will you blame? You probably will never blame yourself. The Right will blame the Left, the Left the Right, the Conservative the unions and workers, Limbaugh will blame everyone, the Fed and Generals will blame China, the Dems will blame the billionaires (the billionaires won't care), the Birchers will blame Russian subs in the Potomac, the medieval religionists will blame Satan who "rules the world"; and Wall Street, Corporate America, along with the US Military machine, will be gleeful from the results: oligarchic power over everyone and everything. Fascism!

But you probably will never blame yourself if you lose Democracy from failing to exercise your vote; it's too simple a concept for blame. It is that easy to lose. And there are many who wish you lose it.

It would require another Revolutionary War to regain Democracy should it be lost now, at a time when Democracy in America is virtually hanging by a thread from combined forces that have placed restrictions on Constitutional Rights; germinated endless and ruthless wars (including state assassinations); erected a technological totalitarian state; dulled reason and truth through media propaganda; protected banking criminality; rewarded political (bipartisan) corruption; and - most of all - from widespread citizen dereliction and negligence. One might think from this partial list that the war has already been lost. It hasn't!

What you don't use, you will lose. Guaranteed!

If you cannot vote for anyone on the ballot, or vote for anyone you freely write-in, then vote for yourself!

I do not tell you who to vote for, I care more that you vote. The life of your Democracy depends upon YOU.

Now more than ever! Truly.
