Western Media Only a Tinge of Sadness for Gaza Slaughter

Only A Tinge of Sadness
In a highly predictable article slavishly supporting Israel's blitzkrieg in Gaza, but starting to have doubts about it, the 'Wall Street Journal', July 29, has the bare-faced audacity to tell its readers that the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr has been “tinged with sadness”. The Eid brought a brief lull in the fighting between Israel and Hamas “but instead of the customary feasting and celebration families were counting their dead and injured”. They were of course only “tinged” with sadness.

Gazans do not want to send Eid greeting this year. One was quoted in the 'WSJ' leading article as saying “it's difficult for me this time to find the words to write. The sadness is overwhelming." The 'WSJ' also told us why.

After relentless airstrikes and shelling from Israeli tanks and naval vessels, several districts such as Beit Hanoun or Al Masri have been razed to the ground. Dead livestock is strewn in the streets, housing and minarets have been toppled “like broken sticks” and the facades of several hospitals are pockmarked with shell holes and shrapnel damage. 'WSJ' quoted the majority opinion of Gazans for what is happening to them, which is far from  “tinged” with sadness. They  say that Eid this year is like a black mass of asphalt smothering them, using the Arabic word for bitumen as well as stupid bad luck and even disaster, "Zift".

Of course the 'WSJ' and similar media will add, this is all due to the Iran-backed terrorist organization Hamas which uses Gazans as human shields. Israel will withdraw “and quietly go home” only when all weapons stocks, and all the cross-border tunnels built by Hamas have been destroyed. Also predictable, July 29, Israel announced that it will be escalating the military campaign and told Israelis, and Gazans to prepare for a prolonged operation, defying international demands for an immediate cease-fire. Israel's military chief of staff, Lt. General Benny Gantz, said Israel's assault on “Hamas rulers” was being intensified after three weeks of fighting that has cost more than 1,100 lives.

Tit for Tat
Benyamin Netanyahu ordered a resumption of attacks after Hamas struck two military targets inside Israel on Monday, lobbing a mortar that killed four soldiers near the Gaza border. In later military action, Monday, Israel's IDF said it killed five militants in a firefight at a cross-border tunnel, and that five of its soldiers were killed. Fifty-three Israeli soldiers have in total died so far, according to Israeli authorities.

In Gaza City, the Israeli retaliation included shelling of a residential neighborhood called Beach Camp, killing eight children and two adults. The “asymmetric war strategy” of Israel is clear – kill children when Hamas kills Israeli soldiers. What can be easier, as well as noble and justified?

Despite the acres of newsprint in Israel-serving media like the 'WSJ' war fatigue has begun to take its toll on the propaganda line the biased media broadcasts. Hamas is a terrorist organization backed by Iran, has little or no public support among the Palestinians, exploits their helplessness, uses them as human shields and must be stamped out even if ordinary Gazan civilians are massacred in droves by the process. In a key sign of weakening glove puppet media support to Israel however, July 29, the 'WSJ' said: “Mr. Netanyahu and the Hamas leadership each appear to have strong support at home for continuing the fight”

The terrorist organization now has strong support at home! Like Israel's IDF, whose origins trace back to what the British Palestine mandate authorities called the Israeli terorrist organization, Irgun Zvai Leumi. Israel was born in terror, like Hamas, the key difference being that Hamas could likely never have existed unless Israel existed. Tit for tat.

In another sure sign of wavering western elite support for Israel, the UN's Ban ki-Moon accused Israel of "pummeling" Gazans with "indiscriminate destruction" and warned the Jewish state to carry out and fulfill its obligations as "an occupying power", which include protecting civilians. The UN Secretary general in statements made before an emergency meeting of the Security Council on Monday, also said the IDF and Hamas are “morally wrong” for letting so many people get killed. Even Barack Obama, breaking away from playing golf, telephoned Netanyahu. Sunday night, to call for an "immediate and unconditional humanitarian cease-fire."

World's Apart
Gaza is very easy to compare with the Warsaw ghetto of World War II. What happened to its Jewish community is amply documented and certainly played a part in the movement to create Israel as an “inviolable Jewish Homeland”. It should be no surprise to anybody that serial outrages committed by Israel in Gaza can only reinforce Palestinian determination to have a Homeland.

Until the present outrage, western glove puppet media and glove puppet politicians have stolidly and mindlessly maintained the myth that Israel should exist but Palestine should not. It can for example be a “semi independent Palestinian Authority” running a massive ghetto. Israel will always stand guard on its borders like an excited pittbull. Palestine is a threat to regional peace and its existence favors the existence of terrorism.

Israel and Palestine are world's apart, as national entities, but are economically and even socially (and certainly genetically as ADN testing shows!) one and the same world. They are also exposed to large-scale regional geopolitical change. Their real role in either threatening or assuring regional security, which was never high, has further declined. Interest in the subject of either entity has declined, becoming increasingly seen as a “fratricidal conflict”.Even the legitimacy of their national aspirations are now questioned – until the 1948 foundation of Israel following the successful terror campaign of Jewish militants, Jewish communities were widespread across the Arab world, like Palestinian communities.

The insane injustice of Israel existing, but not Palestine, is no longer possible to be dumped and forgotten as an “accident of history”. Both can exist or neither can exist.
