The Felling of Sheffield's Big Street Trees 2017 - Dobcroft Road
Local / Sheffield Sep 24, 2017 - 02:41 PM GMTSheffield is being systematically purged of its biggest and best street trees with the initial tranche of 6000 trees by the end of 2017 nearing completion, with likely many thousands of more big street trees to be felled during the remaining years of the Labour Sheffield City Council's 25 year Streets Ahead contract with Amey.
This video documents what happened to the street trees of Dobcroft Road, from the smaller Cherry trees to its biggest Plane trees, with undoubted consequences for house prices for this street and the whole of Sheffield as each large tree felled has a capital value of between £40,000 to £70,000. Also note that there was no curb damage from the trees being felled in this video as is often cited as a reason for the felling of healthy Sheffield street trees.
