Investors, Stocks to Dump or Not Buy / Companies / Investing 2010

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleLarry D. Spears writes: With more than 8,790 publicly traded stocks on U.S. exchanges and another 7,000 or so listed on the OTC Bulletin Board and the pink sheets, it's not particularly difficult to find stocks you wouldn't want to buy. It's not even that hard to find stocks with numbers so bad they're good short-sale candidates.

The Lights Have Officially Gone Out In the US / Companies / Corporate News

By: Graham_Summers

Here’s a news story that summates the US economy’s problems rather well:

The last major GE factory making ordinary incandescent light bulbs in the United States is closing this month, marking a small, sad exit for a product and company that can trace their roots to Thomas Alva Edison's innovations in the 1870s.

Expected Breakout for Barrick Gold Corp ABX / Companies / Gold & Silver Stocks

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Why did we add Barrick Gold Corp (ABX) into strength after it was up 3% from today's spike low at 44.76? Because the sharp intraday recovery rally occurred after what looks to me like the completion of a significant correction off of the 47.55 high from 9/22.

Cisco Breaking Out? / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Purely from a technical perspective, we can make the case that with the series of higher-highs and higher lows since the August 31 low at 19.82, Cisco (CSCO) is in the process of completing a pullback from Friday's recovery high at 22.25 (into today's low at 21.86). If accurate that means that the rally off of this morning's low is the start of a new upleg that should hurdle 22.25 on the way to 22.50 next.

Three Junior Potash Developers Are Sitting on Big Assets / Companies / Investing 2010

By: Richard_Mills

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe United Nations estimates that the world's population will reach 7.7 billion by 2020 and 9.3 billion in 2050. Another United Nations estimate says that only 30% of the arable land in use in the 1950's will be available per person in 2050.

"Just when we need more soil to feed the 10 billion people of the future, we'll actually have less -- only a quarter of an acre of cropland per person in 2050, versus the half-acre we use today on the most efficient farms." ~ David Montgomery, author of the 2007 book Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations

Four Reasons to Invest in ETFs And Five Ways to Get Started / Companies / Exchange Traded Funds

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleLarry D. Spears writes: A mere 15 years ago, selecting the right exchange-traded fund (ETF) was no big challenge. That's because the first ETF wasn't introduced until 1993, and the second didn't follow until 1995. Since then, however, the growth rate among these versatile investment vehicles has been exponential - so fast, in fact, that the monitoring firm Morningstar now tracks the performance of 854 ETFs, with new funds being added almost weekly.
