Theresa May Declares War on Immigration - Conference Speech Full Transcript / Politics / Immigration

By: Submissions

“Thank you, Arminka, Baroness Helic, for that incredible, personal story. From Bosnia to Britain, from arriving here as a refugee to serving the public in government and in the House of Lords, your story is an inspiration to us all. So, on behalf of everybody here today, thank you.

Before I begin, I’m sure I speak for everyone at Conference when I say that our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of Police Constable David Phillips who was killed in the line of duty in the small hours of yesterday morning. PC Phillips, who served with Merseyside Police, leaves behind a loving wife, Jennifer, and two young daughters, Abigail and Sophie.

Is Russia Plotting To Bring Down OPEC? / Politics / Crude Oil

By: OilPrice_Com

President Putin's recent moves in the Middle East—to shore up Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria through deployment of combat aircraft, equipment, and manpower and build-out of air-, naval-, and ground-force bases, and the agreement in the last week with Iran, Iraq, and Syria on intelligence and security cooperation—could contribute to Russian efforts to combat the myriad negative pressures on Russia's vital energy industry.

Kunduz Afghanistan’s Hospital Bombing - Pentagon Lies Covering Up Its Latest War Crime / Politics / US Military

By: Stephen_Lendman

US warplanes deliberately and maliciously terror bombed Kunduz, Afghanistan’s hospital, the only one in the area - striking it multiple times for over an hour, despite knowing it was not involved in ongoing fighting in the city.

The death toll stands at 22, dozens more injured, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF) physicians, other medical staff and patients. Those unable to be moved were immolated in their beds.

US General in charge of Pentagon operations in Afghanistan John F. Campbell lied, claiming the Kunduz hospital was “accidentally struck.”

Redesigning Internet and Facebook to Explore Their Full Potentialities... / Politics / Internet

By: Dr_R_M_Mathew

... and Empower the Humanity with Knowledge for Finding Solutions for Its Problems

Internet and Social Medias have reached their saturation point under their existing framework of data sharing and communications. At the same time, they are using only less than five per cent of their actual potentialities for their over-dependence on Data. Here the causalities are of course Knowledge, Visions and Dreams.

We’re Not Nearly As Worried About The Middle East As We should Be / Politics / Middle East

By: John_Rubino

What’s the opposite of a gift that keeps on giving? A mistake that keeps metastasizing.

Which pretty much sums up the US role in the Middle East. Beginning with the CIA’s 1953 overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected president and continuing through the multiple regime changes and invasions of recent years, various American governments have behaved like they both understood that region and had the power to mold it into a docile client that pumped oil, suppressed dissent and otherwise caused no trouble.

The Social Challenge to Find Humanity in Capitalism / Politics / Social Issues

By: Bloomberg

Paul Tudor Jones, Founder of Tudor Investment Corp., joined hosts Stephanie Ruhle and David Westin for the debut of Bloomberg TV's new flagship morning program, Bloomberg <GO>. He discussed how the Federal Reserve is approaching monetary policy, his Just Capital initiative, income inequality, and the need for humanity in capitalism.

On a major macro shift in the market, Jones said: "I think for the first time since Volcker, probably, you see the Fed managing, in my mind, they're managing for the balance sheet to take out the tail risk associated, and associated with expanding debt virtually globally, and not to mention our federal debt. I think it points to a choppier market."

Ron Paul - I Wish Nobody Was Bombing Syria / Politics / Syria

By: Dr_Ron_Paul

The US regime change policy for Syria has been a catastrophe. More than 200,000 killed and an entire country reduced to rubble at least partly because President Obama decided that "Assad has lost his legitimacy." How is it that the president of a country 6,000 miles away has the authority to decide whether another leader belongs in office or not? What if Rouhani in Iran decided that Obama had lost his legitimacy for killing a number of American citizens by drone without charge or trial? Would we accept that?

Putin’s Blitz Leaves Washington Rankled and Confused / Politics / GeoPolitics

By: Mike_Whitney

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a blistering critique of US foreign policy to the UN General Assembly.

On Tuesday, Barack Obama shoved a knife in Putin’s back. This is from Reuters:

“France will discuss with its partners in the coming days a proposal by Turkey and members of the Syrian opposition for a no-fly zone in northern Syria, French President Francois Hollande said on Monday

We Are Nothing But Cattle In An Industrial Processing Facility / Politics / Social Issues

By: James_Quinn

There is a growing divide in the country and day by day it grows deeper and more irrevocable. All around us we see the signs, if we look for them, of decay and collapse built into the very system itself.

If you reward indolence, it will become the norm, if we practice wholesale slaughter from the womb to a foreign wedding party others will take the cue. If we celebrate slatterns and degenerates and ridicule the wholesome and traditional we will wind up with more of one and less of another.

The Killer Ape, Human Evolution, Artificial Intelligence and Extinction End Game / Politics / Evolution

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Some 7 million years ago our human ancestors split from the Apes that would go on to become our closest living relative the Chimpanzee. For the next 5 million years our ancestors would have physically looked little different to modern Chimpanzees  as well as in terms of behaviour and circumstances as there was a very gradual process of evolution of physical abilities such as walking upright in addition to still being good at climbing trees. Even as recently as 2 million years ago, some 3 million years into the age of the Australopithecine's, they would not have looked that different to modern Chimpanzees, living a precariously frightened existence constantly falling victim to predators, and where brains were of comparable size to Chimpanzees, about 1/3rd the cranial capacity of modern man.

More U.S. Municipal Bankruptcies on the Way / Politics / US Debt

By: BATR

Even to the casual observer, the financial condition of government budgets are under severe stress. Taxes have gone up consistently and have outpaced any meager adjustments in income for most taxpayers. No one can reasonably expect that municipal financing is assured by simply raising assessments and rates to keep their bloated bureaucracies solvent. Since the middle class has never recovered from the money centered meltdown, the average community struggles with diminished resources.

Speaker Boehner Readies Final Sellout As Debt Ceiling Debacle Looms / Politics / US Debt

By: MoneyMetals

It's campaign season, and that means non-stop media coverage of candidate polls, quips, gaffes, tweets, emails, controversies, lies, and scandals. It all makes for a good soap opera. Unfortunately, it's almost all irrelevant in the big picture.

The media prefer to focus on the sideshow rather than the 800-pound gorilla in the room: the looming debt crisis. Nothing that comes out of a pundit's mouth or a Hillary Clinton email will close the $210 trillion long-term fiscal gap the U.S. now faces.

Question to Millennials: Why Are You Not Mad as Hell Yet? / Politics / Student Finances

By: Mike_Shedlock

Millennials, why are you not angry about ...

  1. Having to pay Social Security when it won't be there for you.
  2. Paying exorbitant taxes for public pension handouts and boomer retirements at age 50 for which you receive negative benefits.
  3. Obamacare for which you overpay to support the obese and the nicotine addicts.
  4. Enormous student debt burdens for which you received little benefit.

I ask this in response to an email I received from Rich Renza who writes ...

Congress and the Fed Refuse to Learn From Their Mistakes / Politics / US Federal Reserve Bank

By: Dr_Ron_Paul

This month marks the seventh anniversary of the bursting of the housing bubble and the subsequent economic meltdown. The mood in Congress following the meltdown resembled the panicked atmosphere that followed the September 11th attacks. As was the case after September 11th, Congress rushed to pass hastily written legislation that, instead of dealing with the real causes of the crisis, simply gave the government more power.

France Bombs Syria / Politics / Syria

By: Stephen_Lendman

France is part of the problem, not the solution, in Syria. It supported Obama’s war from inception. It partners in all US imperial wars, a key member of NATO’s killing machine, smashing one nation after another.

On Saturday, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius lied, blaming Assad for four-and-a-half years of war, ignoring Obama’s full responsibility and French complicity, backing his aggression on another independent country, using ISIS and other takfiri terrorists to do his dirty work.

Why I'm Never Going to 'Two-Bit' China / Politics / China

By: Mike_Shedlock

I would never go to China, even if someone paid for the trip and all expenses.

My reason can be explained in one headline: China Arrests US Citizen for 'Endangering National Security'

An American businesswoman has been formally arrested in China on suspicion of "endangering national security" just days before Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in the US for his first official state visit.

Germany’s Immigration Challenge / Politics / Refugee Crisis

By: John_Mauldin

This immigration crisis in Europe is a big deal, and it’s a bigger deal for Germany than for any other European country. Germany is directly in the firing line, both geographically and in terms of how many of the migrants want to settle there. Nearly 40% of migrants choose Germany as their preferred final destination, while the only other nation that is chosen by more than 10% of migrants is Hungary, at 18%.

Europe’s Refugees Are A Global Crisis / Politics / Refugee Crisis

By: Raul_I_Meijer

At the moment I start writing this, leaders of European nations are in a meeting in which they talk about refugees that, though it was announced over a week ago, was nevertheless labeled an ’emergency’ meeting. The only thing that truly tells you is that Europe still refuses to see the refugee situation as an emergency. And that’s not just semantics.

Of course there’ll be all sorts of bickering about the difference between migrants and refugees, and tons of words about how “we” should separate the two, and send people back, and strengthen European borders, and fight the human smugglers. None of which addresses reality, or at least at best a tiny sliver of it.

Poland, Czech, Slovakia and Hungary Refugee Hypocrisy After Flooding UK with 4 Million Economic Migrants / Politics / Refugee Crisis

By: Nadeem_Walayat

The euro-crats obsession with the eastwood expansion of the European Union, one of incorporating former dictatorships stuck in centuries old mind sets is once more being revealed to have been another catastrophic error, one that potentially sows the seeds for the destruction of the European Union. Today, in an attempt at dealing with the refugee crisis facing Europe by means of a drop in the ocean quota of 120,000 refugees to be distributed among EU member states, a quota that is barely 10% of the 1.1 million migrants expected to enter the EU this year. However once more the hypocrisy of the Eastern European states has been exposed as they virulently rebel against any attempts to settle any refugees in their lands, despite the fact that these very same nations have sent several millions of refugees westwards ever since the cold war began and more recently over the past decade flooded western europe with well over 10 million economic migrants, 4 million of whom have settled into the embrace of Britain's welfare state, resulting a huge crisis in social services, schooling and not least Britain's housing catastrophe.
