Positive Stock Market Session Ends with Strong Finish

The markets had a strong day on Thursday, with a gap up, run up, consolidation, they pulled back, held, and started back up near the end of the session. Many of our stocks did very well. We have quite a few to go over, so let’s get started.

Clovis Oncology Inc (CLVS) had a nice day, up 2.68, or 7.5%, to 38.36, on 6.5 million shares traded. You can see that it’s into the gap, and my target half way through the gap is as high as 47, but let it get through 40 first. I do believe this stock has room to extend. It has 3.5 days to cover.

Nektar Therapeutics (NKTR) popped 37 cents, or 2%, to 19.52, on 1.15 million shares traded. The volume was pretty good. The OBV is holding up. I think this stock is ready to make a move here. Any move through the 19.98 area, and we’ll see a run to the 22-23 zone. It has almost 10 days to cover on that beauty.

RadiSys Corporation (RSYS), a swing trade of ours, is moving. After popping out and pulling back for couple of days, it got quiet, and then resumed again on Thursday, up 29 cents, or 5.3%, to 5.73, on 481,369 shared traded. I think it’s on its way to 7, 8, and then 9 1/2. It has 9.3 days to cover.

TerraForm Power, Inc. (TERP) popped on Wednesday, followed through on Thursday, up 59 cents, or 4.2%, to 14.59, on 2 million shares traded. There’s still 11.86 days to cover, and now that it’s broken out its base, it may be heading to mid-channel, perhaps in the 17 range, followed by 20. There’s a potential takeover by BlackRock Inc.

Stocks on the long side included Aquinox Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AQXP), baba, Bitauto Holdings Limited (BITA), Clovis Oncology Inc (CLVS), Caesars Entertainment Corporation (CZR), Exelixis, Inc. (EXEL), FormFactor Inc. (FORM), TerraForm Power, Inc. (TERP), GoPro, Inc. (GPRO), Mirati Therapeutics, Inc. (MRTX), Nanometrics Incorporated (NANO), Nektar Therapeutics (NKTR), RadiSys Corporation (RSYS), Twilio, Inc. (TWLO), Vipshop Holdings Limited (VIPS), and Zynerba Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ZYNE).
