Stock Market Bottom Are We There Yet? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Guy_Lerner

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleLike those long distance car trips I take with my children where 90 minutes into an 8 hour drive they say, "Are we there yet?", market participants are wondering the same: are we there yet? Will the recent bout of selling entice the buyers such that the market will revisit the highs last seen only 4 short weeks ago? Anything can happen, but from a sentiment perspective, the answer remains same as last week: complacency reigns and this is not a high reward, low risk investing environment.

Stock Market Testing the 200 day Exponential Moving Averages / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe market has come down a long way in a fairly short period of time. It wasn't too long ago that the S&P 500 printed 1151. Intra-day yesterday we hit 1044 on the S&P 500 or a drop of 107 points or roughly 9.5%. A very decent drop and can clearly be called a correction although it falls technically about 1/2% below. 9.5% is close enough to say we just went through a correction. The market has purged and now it's time for a little break from the down side action. It's taken enough Pepto Bismol to where it can have at least a tiny vacation. How long is unclear and I'll cover the whole scenario in this report.

Can Stock Market Corrections Be Better Than Rallies? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Sy_Harding

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleTwenty years ago, just prior to the 1990 recession, I wrote a little booklet for my subscribers which I titled ‘Bear Markets Are Best’. Its premise was not that bear markets are really better than bull markets, but that they are not something to be feared, and do have some advantages over bull markets. The same goes for intermediate-term corrections within bull markets.

Stock Market Warning Signs to Watch / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Claus_Vogt

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe stock market does not turn on a dime. At least historically that’s been the case.

Take Japan as an impressive example …

At 10,300 the Nikkei is now 74 percent below its all time high of December 1989. On the long way down it has experienced many cyclical rallies, some of them amounting to gains of more than 100 percent!

Stock Market Bears Making Room for the Bulls / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Paul_J_Nolte

Last weekend in the northern climes, a whiff of spring could be felt as temperatures rose to levels well above the norms for late January. Unfortunately, we were quickly reminded that winter still holds serve as temperatures quickly dropped to well below normal. Could the ’09 rally be nothing more than a winter reprieve and the ushering in of the ’10 calendar year will ultimately remind us that the bear market is still very much with us? Ok, a bit dramatic, however the past week saw the bullish equity camp decline rapidly as prices fell below their December lows, which historically does not auger well for the remainder of ’10.

Stock Market Correction Could be the Start of Something Bigger / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Andre_Gratian

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleCurrent Position of the Market
SPX: Long-term trend - Down! The very-long-term cycles have taken over and if they make their lows when expected, the bear market which started in October 2007 should continue until 2014. This would imply that lower prices lie ahead. As illustrated by the current market performance, this will not be a straight-down decline, but will consist of a series of intermediate-term rallies and declines until we have reached the low point.

Stock Market Dumb Money Still Bullish Despite 7% Sell Off / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Guy_Lerner

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleFrom the highs three weeks ago to the lows of this past week, the S&P500 has slid about 7%. This is not as great as the mid- June to mid- July, 2009 swoon, which saw the S&P500 loose about 10%. So maybe investors are right in not being too concerned about the pace of the current downdraft, and when looking at the sentiment indicators this week, that is exactly what we see: complacency amongst the "dumb money" and indifference by the "smart money". Despite any short term gains over the next week, this still is not a high reward, low risk investing environment.

Stock Market Trend Correction / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Peter_Navarro

The U.S. markets are in a major correction. If you see any bubblehead portfolio manager on TV telling you this is a great buying opportunity, know that this man/woman is merely a gambler rather than an intelligent speculator. For the foreseeable future, the market is a roulette wheel. Until the dust clears – that is, until market participants figure out the direction of the economy -- this is a good time to be in cash (and non-cyclicals like biotech).

Stock Market Correction Or Bear Market? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThis is now the question we need to ponder and decide which way this market is headed. There are cases to be made for both and I will discuss that later on. Yesterday I spoke about how we had our first down trend confirmed when we broke down out of a bear flag for the first time in one year. Three nasty days down that went lateral for four to five days and then broke yesterday, especially on the QQQQ's or the etf proxy for the Ndx 100. Today was a continuation of that down move after a strong gap up on an artificially induced GDP at over 5% that was created by an interfering Government that simply won't allow things to play out as they should naturally. They simply prolong things but that's for another time.

Stock Market Unfinished Business From 2009 For 2010 / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Doug_Wakefield

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIn March 2009, the Dow bottomed at 6470 and the S&P 500 hit a low of 666. On January 19th we released a report titled, Desperation, which – if this nascent decline continues – will mark the top in the markets, with the Dow at 10,729 and the S&P 500 basically triple-topping on the 11th, 14th, and 19th at 1150. So, in less than one year’s time, the Dow gained 66 percent while the S&P 500 gained 73 percent. And, these numbers are as dubious as they are amazing.

The China Google Controversy and the Stock Market / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Clif_Droke

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe news spotlight recently was stolen by Google, the Internet search engine giant. A statement issued by Google a couple of weeks ago was greeted by dismay on Wall Street as shares retreated in response to the company’s announcement that it no longer supports China’s censoring of searches that take place on the Google platform. China has defended its extensive censorship after Google threatened to withdraw from the country.

Dow Solid Stock Market Break Down and the Gold Bear Market / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: J_Derek_Blain

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleEvery Market For Itself!  (Or All for One) - It appears that the short respite from this bear market is coming to a quick close.  As we have forecast for some time, the everything-but-the-USD bear market is underway and as such our goal is to notify you of topping formations, as the bottom is a little further into the future than our crystal ball is willing to tell.

Stock Markets Turn Late... / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Jack_Steiman

The stock market needed fear. A bull bear spread of 37.5%. Markets normally have a strong pullback once you see levels over 35%. It's not an exact timing mechanism but it was coiled spring looking for a catalyst. It found it and down we went. It was no small move down either as two and a half months of gains were wiped out in three days worth of market action. That's more than just ouch. Moves down are always more aggressive than moves higher because fear is a greater emotion than greed.

Stock Market Investor Fears Over China and Re-regulation / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: PaddyPowerTrader

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleUS stocks fell Tuesday, erasing gains in the session’s final hour, as concern the Federal Reserve may signal more plans to unwind stimulus measures overshadowed higher-than-estimated earnings from Apple, Tellabs, Travelers etc and a jump in consumer confidence. JP Morgan slid 2% to lead declines in the Dow. Verizon Communications shed 1.7%, while US Steel plunged 12% on a wider-than-estimated loss and the prospect of diminished demand from China. Benchmark indexes extended declines as Elliott Wave International CEO Robert Prechter said a new bear market may have begun.
