Land Rover Discovery Sport 'Approved Used' Bad Paint Job - Inchcape Chester / ConsumerWatch / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

Following my Land Rover Discovery Sports 1st service at 15,000 miles at a Land Rover dealer (Guy Salmon, Sheffield) I now have another item to add to my Inchcape list of issues, including fixes promised that would be rectified at time of purchase that never were, such as a ripped door fabric. However, this may be the most serious to date, as apparently at least one of the panels has a bad paint job that is now disintegrating.

So watch the video which acts as a warning to all those who are thinking of buying an APPROVED USED Land Rover, because "Approved Used" is just a sales pitch Land Rover dealers successfully use so that customers let their guards down. For instance the 'bad paint job' should be fixed under warranty but of course the dealer says its no, which means APPROVED USED is just a hit or miss sales pitch, either that or Land Rovers factory paint sucks.

Best Car Jump Starter 2018 Review - Oittm 1500A Peak Current Battery Booster / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: HGR

This a review of the Oittm car jump starter that can apparently jump start a 6.5 litre diesel engine that I bought from Amazon for £80. My wife's car battery fails every few months probably because of the way she drives with lights permanently on. So I was hunting for a compact car battery jump starter so I don't need to come out and Jump start the car every few months and finally settled on this one by Oittm because it also has 2 USB ports so I can use to for more than just Jump starting cars i.e. a mega battery pack when out and about.

Land Rover Discovery Sport 90% Motorway Driving MPG Fuel Economy in ECO Mode / ConsumerWatch / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

This is the latest video in out Land Rover Discovery Sport's series that answers the question of what to expect in terms of fuel economy for this great looking Land Rover model as compared against Land Rovers sales pitch of 53.3 MPG, which in reality no one really expects to achieve. Still here is what to expect from a 2 year old Land Rover Discovery Sport in the month immediately after a full dealer service, with 90% of the driving down on Britain's motorways such as the M1, M6 and A1 roads on road trips from Sheffield to London, Warrick, and Blackpool and back.

Land Rover Discovery Sport 1st Dealer Oil Change Service - What to Expect / ConsumerWatch / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

Land Rover's sales pitch is that the Discovery Sport's first service is due at 21,000 miles or 2 years, thus saving owners on expensive annual services. That and their service packs only tend to cover for 1 service every 2 years which may be the reason for the 21,000 miles service sales pitch. Unfortunately on the one hand there's the sales pitch and then there's the reality of what to actually expect when owning and driving a Land Rover Discovery Sport as the two don't quite tend to match.

For instance, the internet is littered with comments about how warnings are popping up on owner dashboards requesting an oil service for a potential multitude of reasons such as diesel getting into the engines? which in some examples oil change services are being requested at less than 7,000 miles!

So I decided to track the service indicator for my HSE Black for when the car would request a service and this is the resulting video that all DISCO Sport owners should take note of, that they should NOT rely on the 21k sales pitch but check their oil service mileage indicator on a regular basis, else risk being in for an unexpected dash shock message that an oil service is now due!

Land Rover Discovery Sport What to Know Before Buying, 6 Month Owner Driver Review / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

This is my comprehensive review of the Land Rover Discover Sport after owning and driving a HSE Black trim for over 6 months, of what to expect if you are considering buying one as it does take a few months of real world driving before one is fully aware of the cars good and bad points, such as the pretty feeble plastic trim that tends to surround Discovery Sports, the rattling sound that many owners tend to experience again apparently due to poor quality trim / build.

So whilst the Discovery Sport looks great on the driveway and generally drives well, in many other respects my previous 11 year old Zafira was better i.e. the back two seats are seriously lacking in leg room, definitely not enough space for adults! And what's worse is that real world fuel economy will come nowhere near Land Rovers sales pitch of the DISCO doing 53.3 MPG. Then we have the fantasy of the first oil service change at 21,000 miles, when in reality the car will be requesting an oil change much sooner than that! So watch my 6 month real owner and driver review for what you need to beware of if considering buying one. Where this HSE Black was bought from Hunters Inchcape in Chester.

Land Rover Discovery Sport ECO Mode Real World Driving MPG Fuel Economy / ConsumerWatch / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

This is the latest video in our Land Rover Discovery Sport's series that answers the question of what to expect in terms of fuel economy for this great looking and Land Rover model as compared against Land Rovers sales pitch of 53.3MPG, which in reality no one really expects to achieve, still 40MPG for a fairly new car should be achievable should it not? Well find out in our real conditions world test of driving 1100 miles in ECO Mode so as to maximise fuel economy that answers what one should expect from a 18 month old Land Rover Discovery Sport where the driving was approx 50% on motorways (50-70 mph) and the balance in city driving.

Land Rover Discovery Sport 1100 Miles ECO Mode Real MPG Fuel Economy Test / ConsumerWatch / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

In this video I answer the question of just how closely Land Rover Discovery Sports fuel economy compares against Land Rovers 53.3 MPG sales pitch, as knowing what a car will actually do under real driving conditions is a very important consideration when buying any new car. This test is of driving 1100 miles in ECO Mode so as to maximise fuel economy of what to expect from a 18 month old Land Rover Discovery Sport that has done about 14,000 miles from new where the driving was approx 50% on motorways (50-70 mph) and the balance on city driving.

How to Deal With a Suspended Driving License / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: Anwar_Hossain

If you have a suspended driving license, it means your driving rights have been withdrawn temporarily, because of driving under the influence of drugs (DUIs) or having no car insurance.

It is a crime to drive a vehicle when your driving license has been revoked according to the California Vehicle Code 14601 VC. Besides, you can face severe suspensions from both federal courts and the California Department of Motor vehicles (DMV). The good news is that there are ways to reinstate your driver’s license.

Land Rover Discovery Sport Rear View Reverse Camera Test / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

Here's a test of the Land Rover Discovery Sports rear view reversing camera installed as standard on HSE and above, whilst available as optional extras on lower trims for the DISCO Sport model. We compare what is shown on the Disco's display against what is actually happening as you reverse your car i.e. how well does the screen display and warning bars compare against how much space you actually have left i.e. too much space and your not parking properly! Too little space which would be disastrous!

Here's a report on what the Land Rover Discovery Sports rattling / knocking sounds are like that emanate from one or more of the car's pillars when driving, usually at it's noisiest from the passenger side pillar C. Jaguar Land Rover Cuts 1000 Jobs on Diesel Sales Slump, Long-term Discovery Sport Review / ConsumerWatch / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

Britains biggest car maker Jaguar Land Rover has axed 1000 jobs from their Midlands car factories following a 26% slump in sales on Brexit and Diesel engines future uncertainty and the emissions scandals that will now bring the JLR work force to under 40,000. The Job losses will virtually wholly hit the Range Rover and Discovery range of vehicles, a huge loss of demand that on an annualsied basis would translate into a loss of demand of more than 150,000 vehicles on total 2017 sales of 620,000.
