The British arm of Toys R Us has been teetering on the brink of collapse for several months now following it's american parent company filing for bankruptcy protection in September 2017 that triggered a downsizing programme through rapid store closures that are likely to see at least 200 of it's 866 US stores close in an attempt at reducing its $5 billion debt mountain which dates back to its leveraged buy out of 2005 that costs Toys R Us $400 billion a year in interest payments and thus acts as a huge noose around Toys R Us's corporate neck.

Balance Transfer Fees Fall to Lowest Level in Over a Decade / Personal_Finance / Credit Cards & Scoring
The quarterly Moneyfacts UK Credit Card Trends Treasury Report (recently published), which studies the UK personal finance market, highlights that the average balance transfer fee has fallen to reach the lowest level seen in over a decade.
At a time when the length of interest-free balance transfers faces scrutiny, it appears that providers are finding alternative ways to entice borrowers. As a result, the average balance transfer fee has hit 2.03%, down from 2.11% in September and 2.29% a year ago. The current average is the lowest seen since it hit 1.82% in October 2006.

2017 Was a Roller Coaster Year For UK Savers / Personal_Finance / Savings Accounts
As we come close to the end of 2017, the latest research from moneyfacts.co.uk shows it has been a roller coaster year for savers. Savings rates fell to record lows for various fixed bonds in January and for variable rates in February, but thankfully as the end of the year draws near, rates in both areas have improvement immensely.
Fixed rates have risen considerably this year, with the average five-year bond hitting 2.03%, its highest level since July 2016 when it was 2.05%. The short-term bonds have also recovered to the extent that today, the average one-year bond stands at 1.17%, its highest point since July 2016 when it was 1.20%.
