Starbucks Bull Market in Expensive Coffee
Companies / Company Chart Analysis Sep 15, 2013 - 10:25 AM GMT Today's chart is yet another reminder that things "can't be all that bad" for the U.S. economy. After all, Americans are still buying expensive coffee.
Over the past couple years, we've featured many charts that demonstrate America may not be booming, but it can't be doing "all that bad." For example, we've shown you the strength in home-improvement stocks, banking stocks, manufacturing stocks, and hotel stocks. Today, we're adding "luxury coffee" to the list. Starbucks is soaring.
Starbucks is America's largest coffee-store chain. But it's not for everyone. While some folks choose to drink cheaper coffee at home, Starbucks regularly gets $5 or $6 for each drink. This makes them "want," not "need," products.
As you can see from the chart below, Americans are feeling rich enough to buy lots of expensive coffee. Starbucks recently reported record quarterly revenues... and the stock just struck an all-time high. We look at this and say once again, "Things can't be all that bad!"
The DailyWealth Investment Philosophy: In a nutshell, my investment philosophy is this: Buy things of extraordinary value at a time when nobody else wants them. Then sell when people are willing to pay any price. You see, at DailyWealth, we believe most investors take way too much risk. Our mission is to show you how to avoid risky investments, and how to avoid what the average investor is doing. I believe that you can make a lot of money – and do it safely – by simply doing the opposite of what is most popular.
