The FDIC Depositor Insurance: as Rock Solid as Social Security / Politics / US Politics
By: Michael_Pento
We all should be painfully aware by now that there is nothing held inside the Social Security and Medicare trust funds but a bunch of IOUs. Monies collected from payroll taxes are treated as general revenues and used in the “unified budget.” But how many of us are aware that the FDIC's Deposit Insurance Fund works in a similar fashion?Read full article... America's Next Revolution, the People Seize Control of Economic Resources / Politics / US Politics
By: Mike_Whitney
My email exchange with Dr. Bede Vincent Curley
Mike Whitney: I have been beating the same dead horse for three or four years now and many people are getting tired of the endless iterations of collapsing markets, rising unemployment and growing pessimism. What's needed is a vision of the future and a concrete plan of action, but I don't have one. So, tell me, what is to be done?

Bush Attempts to Take Credit For a Recovery That Has Yet to Happen / Politics / US Politics
By: Mike_Shedlock
Nominations are being accepted for the most galling statement of the week. Here is my nomination: White House Sees 'Strong' Econ Recovery Early In Obama Admin .

Orwell's 2009- United States Big Brother is Watching / Politics / US Politics
By: James_Quinn
war is peace
freedom is slavery
ignorance is strength
“All political thinking for years past has been vitiated in the same way. People can foresee the future only when it coincides with their own wishes, and the most grossly obvious facts can be ignored when they are unwelcome. Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.” George Orwell

Democrats Attacks on Obama Presidency have Already Begun / Politics / US Politics
By: Walter_Brasch
Sens. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) flexed their muscles, shook their rattles, and told President-elect Barack Obama not to tread upon them. "I don't believe in the executive power trumping everything," Reid, the Senate's majority leader, told the political newspaper, The Hill. He said he believed "in our Constitution, three separate but equal branches of government." For emphasis, he warned, "If Obama steps over the bounds, I will tell him. . . . I do not work for Barack Obama, I work with him."Read full article... Read full article...

U.S. Government's Own Madoff Style Ponzi Scheme Fraud / Politics / US Politics
By: Dr_Ron_Paul
Billions of dollars were recently lost in the collapse of Bernie Madoff's self-described Ponzi scheme, in which too-good-to-be-true returns on investments were not really returns at all, but the funds of defrauded new investors. The pyramid scheme collapsed dramatically when too many clients called in their accounts, and not enough new victims could be found to support these withdrawals. Bernie Madoff was running a blatant fraud operation. Fraud is already illegal, and he will be facing criminal consequences, which is as it should be, and should act as an appropriate deterrent to potential future criminals. But it seems every time someone breaks the law, politicians and pundits decide we need more laws, even though lack of laws was not the problem.Read full article... Read full article...
