India's Nifty 50 Stocks: Does the Bad Jobs Outlook Spell Trouble for Stocks? / Stock-Markets / India

By: EWI

India's "employment outlook" just reached its lowest level in 14 years.

There are a lot of mouths to feed in India -- north of 1.3 billion.

That means a lot of jobs are required to put food on the table for a lot of people. But there's a problem: the jobs picture in the world's second most populous nation isn't pretty.

As far back as a year ago, the Washington Post said (Feb. 1, 2019):

**India's jobs crisis is worse than people thought ...

Elliott Wave Analysis of the Nifty 50 Indian Stocks Index / Stock-Markets / India

By: WavePatternTraders

We are currently tracking a possible impulse wave from the all-time high at 11855, a new low is still needed to end a 5th wave of a suspected impulse wave as shown. Whilst the Banknifty has moved to a new low, we want to see the Nifty confirm that new low on the Banknifty, that would offer a bearish reversal clue.

If we do see a 5th wave to end the current impulse wave idea from the April 2018 high, then a bounce thereafter in 3 waves can be sold against 11855 stops. Based on the wave pattern from the lows made in 2016, the decline from 11855 could be a very important reversal signal, although we are taking it one step at a time.

India's Brewing Nationalist Movement / Politics / India

By: John_Mauldin

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s revolutionary vision for his country’s future bears little resemblance to its present. Yet polls suggest that a strong majority of Indian society may have bought into that vision.

According to a Pew survey released this week, 88 percent of Indians hold a favorable view of Modi, and 83 percent are satisfied with the state of the economy. Most notably, 70 percent said they were satisfied with the direction their country is moving in.

The Real Indian Currency Crisis (Things You Don’t Hear In The News) / Currencies / India

By: HAA

Jayant Bhandari writes: On November 8, 2016, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi dropped a bombshell. In a televised address at 8:00 pm, he declared that after midnight—four hours later—banknotes with face values of INR500 (US$7.50) and INR1,000 (US$15) would no longer be legal tender.

These bills comprised 86% of the monetary value of currency in circulation, so to say that panic ensued would be an understatement. The market stayed open all night as people rushed to buy gold, Rolex watches, and anything else they could get their hands on to use up their cash.

India's Stock Market: Nothing "Random" About It / Stock-Markets / India

By: EWI

See how beautifully India's 8-year long bull market follows a clear Elliott wave fractal pattern

Every day, the mainstream financial experts attempt to explain away fluctuations in stock market trends with some "fundamental factor" du jour, all of which boil down to this: good news causes a market to rise and bad news -- to fall.

A Permanent War Against Corruption, Black Money and Fake Money Is Required In India and Elsewhere / Politics / India

The heroic war against Corruption, Black Money and Fake Money Declared by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is only a beginning of the war and not the end. Of course, it has caused pains or problems for the Common People, as no war can be fought without shedding blood, including the innocents; no surgery can be done without harming some of the healthy parts of the human body.

India Is Poised To Make A Quantum Leap Under Narendra Modi: Perspective Of A Political Economist / Politics / India

Development of the National Economy and Welfare of the Common People or more specifically the Forgotten People - the Rural People, the Blue Color and Toiling People are the basic concern of a Political Economist. On the other hand, Corporate or Marxian or Keynesian Economists uphold a particular ideology and manipulate the economy for the sake of the Ideology or Elite, including the Left or Corporate Sector at the expense of the common people. Prime Minister Modi's War Against Corruption, Black Money and Fake Currency Notes in India / Politics / India

By: Dr_R_M_Mathew

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched relentless war against Corruption and the associated widely circulating Black Money and Fake Currency Notes in India with a surprise move, as part of his election promises. Black money and fake currency notes have grown to the extent of even destabilizing the Indian Economy and the Nation for which the enemies of the nation, within and outside, have been working. From the strategic point of view, especially in the wake of the increasing Islamic Terrorism sponsored by Pakistan, India has no other option but to uproot both Black and Fake Money at any cost, along with Corruption.

New Delhi's Dream of Indian Economy Surpassing China / Economics / India

By: Sol_Palha

"Do not wait for ideal circumstances nor for the best opportunities; they will never come." ~ Anonymous

India has had many aspirations to overtake China, but this is more of a pipedream than reality. India's corruption makes China's corruption seem non-existent. Add in the traffic jams, and filth one has to deal with in parts of Mumbai and Delhi, and the allure of investing in India loses its appeal rather rapidly. This is the reason India continues to suffer such a massive amount of brain drain . Smart Indians understand that their best option is to seek greener pastures. Modi's government had the strongest mandate of any government, yet like all his predecessors he seems to be all talk and little to no action; he has failed to implement any noteworthy changes.

India Stock Market BSE SENSEX Bombay's Last Hurrah / Stock-Markets / India

So, is that the end of the bear market? In my opinion, the answer is both yes and no. What? That sounds like I'm having a bob each way which is not uncommon for many technical analysts, I dare say!

Congress Legacy
Indian National Congress Party, though assumed different names, has the great legacy both in the pre-and post-independent era of India. Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter,  Indira Gandhi, as the Congress Prime Ministers,  adopted pro-poor stands while building up heavy industries and infrastructure under public sector or the direct control of the Government.  Immediately after the assassination of   Indira Gandhi, the Congress Party made her son, Rajive Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India. He modernized India bringing IT and Telecommunication Revolutions even in the remotest villages in India.

Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia Pathways to Increase Indian Rupee Value / Currencies / India

By: Submissions

Rangaraj Srinivasan writes: The value of the rupee hit an all time low of 68.85 on August 2013. The government and Reserve Bank of India mulled over about currency swap arrangements with its trade link countries during September 2013.Usually, India is using US dollar as its medium of exchange for its exports and imports of its goods and services like most of the other countries in the world. Currency swap arrangements refer to exchanging of their own currencies of countries for their trades instead of universally accepted currency like USD. Suppose India has export and import arrangements with Malaysia. India will receive ringgit for its exports to Malaysia and remit rupee for its imports from Malaysia.

Economic Reforms in India Likely To Stick This Time / Economics / India

By: Benjamin_Shepherd

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIndia has always taken a protectionist approach to managing its economy, initially out of a certain necessity and more recently as a result of populist politics.

The initial necessity arose out of a desire to develop a stronger internal economy by fostering small businesses that cater to indigenous tastes and demands. That’s no surprise, given the huge cultural disparities within the country’s regions, especially between the more cosmopolitan and richer south and the poorer north.

From Bollywood to Hollywood: Ripping Up the Social Fabric of India / Politics / India

By: Global_Research

The commercials employ the same wording and that has been used in the West to sell these products for years. The actual news bulletins in India also bear a striking resemblance to the ‘newsworthiness’ agenda used by western channels. As in the West, the commercials and the news are becoming virtually one and the same.

India Power Black Out: The Shape of Things to Come? / Politics / India

By: Raul_I_Meijer

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe enormous power cut recently seen in India, which affected perhaps 700 million people, serves to highlight the degree of the structural dependency we have built into our lives in the era of cheap energy.

Electricity is one of the most complex manifestations of our complex system and has come to be widely seen as a basic necessity. It enables many of our modern life support systems. Expectations have been raised, even in many of the slums of the world, that electricity will be available, at least some of the time. The lack of it, especially if that lack is sudden and unexpected, or prolonged, increasingly leads to social unrest.

India’s Secret Nuclear Weapons Program / Politics / India

By: Global_Research

Marya Mufty writes: If there was any arms race in the region, India has won it, at whatever the cost may be. But the claims to have good neighbourly relations, with MFN-status, no-war pact or no-first-use nuclear arsenal are just a dream seemingly never to come true.

In April this year India yanked open the door of the exclusive ICBM (International Ballistic Missile) club with the first test of Agni-V. Now, if DRDO is to be believed, India has quietly gate-crashed into an even more exclusive club of nuclear-tipped submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). The most ironic part of this achievement on part of India is that New Delhi had been able to successfully keep it as a secret ‘black project’.

Marking the First Signs of an Indian Spring / Politics / India

Past the tomb of Mohammed Shah, the 15th century Munghal ruler, across a landscape manicured in the 1930s by Lady Willingdon, wife of the governor-general, recently acquired trainers stride out from ample figures in smart saris and white cotton dhotis. In Delhi, the middle classes do as they do everywhere, though here there is no middle. By mid-morning, children descend like starlings. They wear pressed blazers, like those of an English prep school. There are games and art and botany classes. When shepherded out through Lady Willingdon's elegant stone gateway, they pass a reed-thin boy, prostrate beside the traffic and his pile of peanuts, coins clenched in his hand.

Years of booming markets made them complacent to risks that were building up in the system. Few saw the apocalypse that collapsed many venerable institutions.

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIndia has withstood the global crisis beyond most would have expected. Even while the rest of the world has been recovering, India and China (credibility of growth is at stake) have not only bounced back but has now started to grow at a very steady and sure rate. In fact a quick glance at S&P and Sensex performance over the last 10 years, will highlight the incredible performance of this much ignored economy.

But, this time is different. Every nation is ready to wage war against their trade partners and other exporting destinations to ensure that country can continue to boast their exports and cheap currency can help them to inflate out their debt loads.

India's Commonwealth Games Fiasco, Shaky Foundations of a Cheap Labour Economy / Politics / India

By: Finian_Cunningham

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAs the Commonwealth Games open in Delhi, India, the controversy over sub-standard accommodation and facilities for the participating nations continues to rage.

Several weeks ago, visiting country delegates voiced concern over the shambolic state of the newly built facilities. Now, as the games open, the event promises to turn into an embarrassing fiasco for the Indian government, with glaring publicity on what is still being widely reported as filthy and shoddy conditions. Media reports say that cleaners and labourers are “working through the night” in order to salvage conditions at the so-called Games Village, where more than 7,000 athletes from over 70 countries are scheduled to stay for the 12-day sporting tournament.

India is on the Path to Double-Digit Economic Growth / Economics / India

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleJason Simpkins writes: If it's able to control inflation and cut its debt, India could well become the world's most appealing investment opportunity.

Europe is choking on debt and scrambling to salvage its beleaguered currency. The United States is saddled by high unemployment and struggling to preserve its wobbly recovery. Even China - which has had to reign in its stimulus to cool its red-hot property market and curb inflation - may have peaked.

Indian Stock Market Detailed Technical Analysis with Chart studies / Stock-Markets / India

By: StocksBuddy

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAs stated in our analysis from previous analysis, market did rally back from the oversold levels. Though market did bounce back, it once again found resistance at the center line of BB which runs around 5200. Market took cues from global rally and echoed the same here. However, towards the end of the week, all the enthusiasm waned. EUR, got a facelift on monday with a $1trillion bailout in Europe. However, it gave up all of the gains from monday and actually has broken down big time during the week. US markets too ended up on a sour note on friday and Asia is expected to open flat to negative on monday because of this. A lot of action took place last week.

Nifty once again found support outside of the lower Bollinger bands. Each day nifty went down, it had a long hammer. This clearly suggests that nifty does not really want to go down, but is going down because of reasons beyond it's control, viz. global conditions. This shows the relative strength of nifty. The question everyone has been asking is whether this is just a minor correction or is it start of a new downtrend. Looking at weekly chart, it doesn't bode well with Bulls right now as we have a "Shooting Star". Good news in this bad one is that nifty closed positive for the week.

Indian Stock Market Detailed Technical Analysis with Chart studies / Stock-Markets / India

By: StocksBuddy

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAs was expected, there were wild moves on both sides owing to Options expiration. Since largest OI was centered around 5200, Nifty hovered and closed pretty much near it. After trading in a very narrow range all of last week, it closed pretty much where it left the previous week. This shows the tug of war between bulls and bears. Neither sure which way to trade at the end of the day/week. In our last analysis though we stated that there is chance of Negative Divergence building up and that would be give us two things.

The Indian government plans to sell a stake of about 10% from the state-owned Manganese Ore (India) Ltd as part of the government’s drive to sell steel-related state assets. Manganese Ore is the nation’s largest manganese producer and meets about 65% of the domestic needs. The company, meanwhile, has plans to ramp up its ferro-manganese production capacity. On the flip side, the company’s finance director has warned that the company’s profits at the end of the current fiscal is likely to show a drop of about 22% because of the lower steel demand last year.

India Bombey Sensex Stock Market Index Forecast to Touch 50,000 by 2015 / Stock-Markets / India

Indeed, the market sentiment was overly buoyant and an uninterrupted rise of the Indian stock market seemed inevitable to market analysts, stockbrokers, businessmen, politicians, as well as the ordinary man. None of these analysts suspected that SENSEX would drop precipitously or that the Indian Rupee (INR), which had also appreciated to 39 INR to 1 USD, may “drop like a rock” with respect to the US Dollar (USD) and other currencies.

In an interview published this Sunday in The New York Times, we laid out a potential scenario for the current Indo-Pakistani crisis. We began with an Indian strike on Pakistan, precipitating a withdrawal of Pakistani troops from the Afghan border, resulting in intensified Taliban activity along the border and a deterioration in the U.S. position in Afghanistan, all culminating in an emboldened Iran. The scenario is not unlikely, assuming India chooses to strike.

Growth in 2008 seems likely to be slower than in 2007 and there are some signs of a credit crunch. Yet India remains one of the world's great growth opportunities and investors at this level may well be getting in on the ground floor of a very major long-term profit play .

Will Rising World Crude Oil Prices Fuel Inflation In Volatile Times / Commodities / India

By: Submissions

Petroleum prices have started racing to $70 a barrel after staying below $60 for the better part of the winter, now coming to an end around the world. What does this portend? Does it signal that the good times are over and recession is about to be triggered in America and a number of advanced countries? The housing boom in the US is beginning to bust and a crisis is looming on the horizon. This has already created a degree of concern, if not alarm, around the world, including India.

How does it affect India and the rest of the world? Because the US dollar value is being eroded and the rupee, yen, euro, Chinese and several other currencies are being valued upwards, there is an implied cushioning of the high petroleum prices, but exporters are losers in cheaper dollars as they earn fewer rupees. The worst affected are the outsourcing companies engaged in providing information technology through service centers as well as call centers, which cover a wide spectrum of the industry.
