MF Global Sold Assets to Goldman While It Was Looting Customer Accounts / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
It turns out that MF Global sold hundred of millions in assets to Goldman in the last two business days before its bankruptcy. It is not clear that MF Global actually received the payment for the sale, or if the funds were held by their clearing agent and banker, JP Morgan, who knew that they were going to be bankrupt.
That revolving line of credit at JPM of $1.2 Billion is about the size of the missing customer funds.

Good Riddance to 2011 / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
Before we say goodbye to 2011, let us pause to remember it…briefly. We spent 365 days with it – 365 days in a row. We can’t just move on to 2012 without at least a backward glance. What kind of a year was it? In what direction did it take the world, dear reader? Should we cheer that it is gone…or merely dry our eyes and hope for the best in 2013?

Stocks Are Topping, Gold Has Topped and Gold & Silver Are Moving Lower / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
The last week of the year volume tends to be light due to the fact that big money traders are busy enjoying the holidays and waiting for their yearend bonuses.
I was not planning on doing much this week because of the low volume but after reviewing some charts and risk levels on my top 5 trading vehicles I could not help but share my findings with everyone last Friday.

Stock Market Holiday Short Squeeze and Crude Oil Trade Idea / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
Typically, the week before Christmas, stocks and commodities drift higher due to the lack of participants. Light volume favours higher prices, which is why stocks want to rise going into the holiday season.
The big money players, like hedge fund managers, are finished for the year. They’re sitting on the sidelines enjoying the holiday season while waiting for their year-end bonus checks.

Stock Markets in a Pre-Crash Pattern / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
-- The VIX appears to be nearing completion of a doubly indicated bullish Descending Wedge pattern on December 27. It will then have completed a Master Cycle low, beginning a new bullish cycle pattern for the VIX. The master cycle low appears to have been delayed, but I wish to assure you that the low will occur within turn window allowed for it. What follows may be a breakout above the wedge as early as the end of next week.

Markets the Friday Before Christmas, Even NYMEX Crooks Are Going Home Early / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
Really guys!
Don’t we all have something better to do than watch the markets today?
I’m embarrassed for all of us. Even the crooks at the NYMEX are going home at 1:30 this afternoon, sacrificing an entire hour of losing money to us to be with their strippers. That’s right we OWNED those people yesterday, hitting play after play after play on the oil Futures, all based on our very simple premise that – If the crooks at the NYMEX want to pretend they want to buy a barrel of oil for $100 – we are very happy to promise to sell it to them!

Essential Investor Knowledge For Maximizing Real Gains Gold, Silver, Crude Oil, Equities & The U.S. Dollar / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
“Since its inception in 1913, The Federal Reserve Board has been responsible for almost 95% devaluation of the U.S. Dollar. All this has been achieved through its ability to continually inflate the money supply.
And, between 1985 and 2005, the Federal Reserve Board has increased the money supply by five times. This extraordinary money creation is merely the catalyst for debt creation. In a fiat money system, money is debt…there is absolutely no way this money can ever be repaid except by continued inflation. But, now that the credit bubble is blown up, inflation is no longer an option; bankruptcy looms.”

Learning from MF Global Bankruptcy / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
In this article we look at how the failure of MF Global might affect the financial markets and trade in general. We learn from one of the gold market’s most famous investors, Jim Sinclair, and hear how this incident might affect the gold price. Mr Sinclair’s comments are worth reading for all investors but especially those inclined toward gold and silver.
During our spare moments reading apparently ‘anoraky’ financial books, we come across the odd gem that we excitedly recommend to our friends for a week or two in a flush of enthusiasm.

Asia was in turmoil last night as news of the death of Kim Jong Il hit the wires. South Korea’s Kospi Index fell 3.4%, both the Shanghai and Hang Seng fell more than 2% at their opens but, along with the Nikkei, they all finished strong and down about 1.25%.

Euro Collapse Crisis Sledgehammer Pounds Into Stock Market Santa Rally / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
Santa's Late! The stock market as measured by the DJIA closed the week down at 11,866, showing significant deviation from the santa rally script with barely a week remaining, the lack of progress to the upside has been as a consequences of the increasing mass of unserviceable debt out of the euro-zone where politicians repeatedly show themselves to be ignorant of the facts and what to do to get out of the hole that the euro-zone is sinking deeper into an economic depression each day.

December Dual Trading in Progress: Views From Inter Market / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
December is tracing our views till now. First a rally to 1260 on SP500 and then a muted correction to the confluence zone at 1210 and culminating a rally back to 1250/60 zone area to finish a rather eventful and volatile year which once again brought to the fore the broken structure of the world economy.
We present key major currency charts and macro economic analysis to validate our views.

Gaining from the Inflation/Deflation Conundrum / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
Amid the Chaos of the Financial Markets and The Economy, One Essential Key to Successful Investing in 2012 is Clear as a Pure Toned Bell.
That One Key Reveals itself to us upon considering just a very few facts.
Via its promise to keep interest rates low until 2013, The U.S. Fed is already engaging in (and prepared to engage in more) QE 3. For example, Operation Twist does provide more liquidity by lengthening Treasuries’ Terms.

Investors Should Prepare For A Chilly Winter / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
BIG PICTURE – The verdict is in and investors should prepare for a chilly winter.
You will recall that in last month’s Money Matters, we explained that many key markets were at ‘make or break’ points. Since then, the market has spoken and it appears as though the ‘risk trade’ is in a primary downtrend. If our assessment is correct, investors who are ‘long’ risky assets will feel the cold breeze over the winter months.

Gold, Silver, Dollar, Stocks and Crude Oil Trend Forecasts / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
It’s that time of year again and I’m not talking about the holiday season… What I am talking about is another major market correction which has been starting to unfold over the past couple weeks.
I have a much different outlook on the markets than everyone else and likely you as well. However, before you stop reading what I have to say hear me out. My outlook and opinion is based strictly on price, volume, inter-market analysis, and crowd behavior and you should put some thought as to what I am saying into your current positions.

Stock Market SPX Index A Possible 50 Point Drop? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
The SPX has broken through its supports and is ready to reach escape velocity. The next target is cycle bottom support at 1163.34, but that is a soft target and may only produce a small bounce, if at all. The real targets are either the new Head And Shoulders minimum target of 1025.00 or the original Broadening Top average target of 980.00.

Stock and Financial Markets Stay Range Bound / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
The markets have spent the best part of 6 months doing nothing but causing pain to both bulls and bears, you only have to look at the triangle formation on the daily chart to note the wild swings we have been seeing over the past few months, those are not helping either side, this market has now become a traders play ground, it's not for the investor or swing trader imo.

Can the Markets Survive Without QE3? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
WTF?
Do Ben Bernanke and I live on different planets? "For a lot of people," he said during a speech at Fort Bliss, "I know it doesn’t feel like the recession ever ended." For what people exactly, Dr. Bernanke, does it seem like it did end? Study after study after study show that, if you are not lucky enough to be in the top 10% of our society (and certainly not a shade of Johnson’s "Great Society" anymore) then you are pretty much f*cked – and, no, there’s not a nicer way to put it.

Breaking Stock and Financial Market Supports / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
There seems to be quite a bit of complacency in the VIX this morning. That is not unusual since the VIX had already completed a reversal pattern as of Friday. Therefore the VIX is already on its cyclical buy signal and that buy signal may be confirmed by crossing intermediate-term trend resistance at 30.49. The patterns suggest that the VIX has quite a distance to go in this next move so hang tight.

Will the U.S. Dollar Ruin the Stock Market Santa Claus Rally? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2011
Experienced traders recognize that volume typically dries up going into the holiday season. Light volume and the holiday seasonality generally push equity prices higher. The discussion of whether Santa Claus comes to Wall Street has arrived in earnest.
I do not envy Santa as he has the most arduous task of determining if Wall Street was naughty or nice. I suppose it depends on whether he reviews recent performance, or if past performance comes into play. Clearly coal will likely be found in a few stockings soon enough. If I were John Corzine, I would not expect to get a lump coal, but something far worse potentially.
