The Era of Centralization is Ending… and the Elites Are Terrified / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Graham_Summers

The biggest issue in financial political power structure today is the End of Centralization.

In the post 2008 era, the Globalists made a major push to hold the system together. The multi-billionaire class, particularly those who made fortunes from crony capitalism and bubble economics joined forces with the Keynesian media shills to convince the world that the only way we would survive would be if trillions of Dollars were given to those who were deemed “systemically important.”

Global Stocks, Bonds Fall Sharply - Gold Consolidates After Two Weeks Of Gains / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: GoldCore

Global stocks and bonds fell the most since the Brexit panic today as recently dormant volatility came back with a vengeance.  There are deepening concerns that global central banks’ ultra loose monetary policies have been ineffectual and may indeed be creating asset bubbles in stock, bond and indeed property markets internationally.

Forecast Summary WTI, EURUSD, USDJPY / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Ken_Ticehurst

WTI now appears to be forming a top, it would appear as though the dead cat bounce is running out of steam and we should see the push for lower lows over the next couple of months.

We expect to see some increased volatility and could even see $50+ over the coming weeks.

Gold, Stock Market Down: Now What? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Brad_Gudgeon

Last I wrote, I was expecting a stock market top early in the week with the late week dropping. We had gone short on Thursday, but late screwy wave action had me pull out to neutral (to my chagrin). I had been looking for a 10 week low within this general time frame and I believe we are there. A move down to challenge the SPX 1994-2100 area would not surprise me on Monday. This should be a great buying area for one more move to new highs by early October at the latest before we see the expected autumn swoon.

A Little Perspective and Stock & Bond Market Notes / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Gary_Tanashian

The opening segment of this week’s Notes From the Rabbit Hole (NFTRH 412) was intended to be a quick blurb but went on to become a five page exercise. It is shared publicly not so much because it is hard core analysis (which the rest of the report took care of), but because after a week like last week I think being a little wordy can be for the better.

I had a difficult week last week; a couple things had gone wrong and my schedule was just ridiculous. On Wednesday I was feeling pretty stressed out and wondering why I just can’t seem to catch a break. Then I looked up and saw a man with two hooks for hands walk by. It was almost as if he were sent into my view to straighten me out.

Financial Markets All is Quiet / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Anthony_Cherniawski

It has been a very quiet weekend. The SPX Premarket is mildly positive as I write. The market is basically directionless.

ZeroHedge writes, “The return from summer holidays has started in much the same way as we left off August, with another subdued session that has seen European stocks little changed, Asian shares advance and S&P futures are modestly in the green amid a flurry of M&A. The US dollar weakened, with the Bloomberg Dollar Index down 0.2% for the 2nd day in a row as prospects for a U.S. interest-rate hike this month remained subdued.”

The U.S. Election Year Fix is In… But Can Janet Make It To November? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Graham_Summers

The election year fix is in… and Janet Yellen is praying the markets hold together until November.

President Obama met privately with Yellen in April of this year. It was their first private meeting together since November 2014 (the Congressional election in which the GOP took both houses of Congress).

President Barack Obama met with Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Monday to discuss the U.S. economy amid signs that growth may be slowing as consumers retreat from spending.

Ahead of the afternoon meeting, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest described Obama as “pleased” with Yellen, who he appointed to lead the Fed in 2014. It is the first time since November 2014 that the Fed chair has met with the president on her own. The meeting was closed to the news media.

Have The Markets Become Too Big to Fail? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Gordon_T_Long

FRA Co-founder Gordon T. Long discusses with John Rubino

Government Interference

"Governments are acting like they don't think they can handle a garden variety equities bear market anymore."

You're seeing central banks all of a sudden become among the biggest buyers of equities in the world. It's one thing to buy bonds and intervene in the interest rate markets, but another to buy equity. This is governments buying the industrial capacity of the world and from an Austrian Economics point of view, this is catastrophically dangerous.

Post Yellen = Market Confusion / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Dan_Norcini

Yellen seems to me to be mastering the art of saying things so that everyone can come away hearing what they wanted to hear.

For those concerned about the Fed leaving interest rates too low for too long, she adopted a hawkish view on the economy, particularly when it comes to the payrolls. For those thinking that any Fed rate hike would send the Dollar soaring, pressuring Emerging Markets as well as equity markets both here domestically and elsewhere, she sounded the theme of interest rates remaining low for a long time. Thus, if the Fed were to hike sooner rather than later, no need to worry because it would not signal the beginning of a rapid series of rate hikes.

Janet Yellen At Jackson Hole / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Jesse

The equity markets are bouncing along support on the lower bound as they wait to hear what Chairman Yellen has to say about the Fed's perspective tomorrow and what else is said over the next few days at Jackson Hole.

As for gold and silver, they went down in honor of the option expiration on the Comex for the most part this week, and today is just the anti-climax.

Traders claim to be 'confused' about what the Fed is up to. So for their benefit and yours, here is a brief cheatsheet.

Surprise! It's the Greenspan Era Blueprint on Inflation / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Gary_Tanashian

I realize Gomer Pyle was way before the time of much of my reading audience, but for the last few weeks I’ve been hearing him in my head as not only NFTRH, but now the wider financial media get on the idea that things are not as bad as had been generally perceived going into the hype fest known as Brexit.  Most recently, a writer who always keeps an even keel, Chris Ciovacco, has summarized the situation nicely (as posted at Biiwii).

The 45th Anniversary of The Most Destructive Event In Modern Monetary History / Interest-Rates / Financial Markets 2016

By: Jeff_Berwick

The US government, bankrupt yet again after another disastrous war of aggression, had its back pushed to the wall in 1971.

Up until that point, foreign central banks could redeem US dollars directly with the US Treasury in exchange for gold.  And, recognizing that the US was essentially bankrupt, foreign central banks, especially France, began to demand gold instead of the dollar.

Kondratiev Wave - The Financial Winter Is Nearing! / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: Chris_Vermeulen

Nature functions in cycles. Each 24-hour period can be divided into smaller cycles of morning, afternoon, evening, and night. The whole year can be divided into seasonal cycles. Similarly, one’s life can also be divided into cycles. Cycles are abundant in nature – we just have to spot them, understand them, and be prepared for them, because they happen whether we like it or not. Likewise, economic experts have noticed that the world also follows different cycles. An important pioneer in this field was the Russian social economist, Nikolai Kondratiev, also called Nikolai Kondratieff, a relatively unknown genius.

The Next Interest Hike is Just Around the Corner / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2016

By: David_Chapman

Shortly after the release of the most recent nonfarm payroll numbers, the pundits were quickly talking up the potential for another Fed interest rate hike at the September FOMC. The BLS reported that the July nonfarm payrolls were up 255,000 jobs, when they expected only 180,000 to 185,000. The June nonfarm payrolls were also revised upwards. Unemployment (U3) was unchanged at 4.9%. Despite the seemingly strong job numbers, the monthly nonfarm payrolls remain highly questionable. Further, other economic data has been anything but robust, with the recent Q2 GDP numbers coming in at half the level expected. The most recent trade data was also lower than expected. Canada reported job losses in July of 31,200, well below expectations, and the equivalent of the US nonfarm payrolls being down 300,000.
