Biotech Stocks: How to Invest in the Buyout Binge / Companies / BioTech

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWilliam Patalon III writes: Big drugmakers are scrambling.

Right now, some of their most-lucrative blockbuster drugs are coming "off patent" - meaning they face the loss of $170 billion in annual sales.

But I'm going to let you in on a secret that Wall Street investment pros hope the little guy never learns: The very same problem that has Big Pharma execs wringing their hands even as you read this is also creating one of the biggest profit opportunities we've seen in years.

If You Think All Utility Stocks Are The Same - Think Again / Companies / US Utilities

By: Charles_Carnevale

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleI have recently seen comments on articles oriented to the dividend growth investor where people were suggesting that in general, utilities have recently become overvalued. Further discussion indicated that this was probably due to the fact that bond yields were so low that people were flocking to stable utility stocks in lieu of bonds therefore driving utility stock prices to abnormal highs. This article is primarily designed to take a more specific look at whether or not utility stocks as an asset class are currently overvalued. Secondarily, it is offered to expose the fallacy of thinking in generalities rather than more specifically.

CACI Stock - Growth at a Ridiculously Low Price / Companies / Corporate Earnings

By: Fast_Graphs

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleFor 50 years CACI International Inc (CACI) has been serving America by providing in-demand services and solutions for our most vital missions for defense, intelligence, homeland security, and IT government modernization.  Moreover, the company has consistently outgrown the government’s defense budget because of its emphasis on higher growth areas of government services needed to defend our country.  Also, because of the sensitive nature of the services that are provided through contracts ranging from 3 to 5 years, we believe the company possesses a very strong moat.  The majority of CACI’s employees hold high-security clearances that provide natural barriers to entry against outsiders attempting to impinge on their turf.

Why Google Android Can't Compete With Apple's iPhone / Companies / Google

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleDavid Zeiler writes: There's an inherent flaw in Google Inc.'s (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android operating system.

The flaw isn't a technical glitch.

In fact, most agree that Google's Android is a first-rate mobile operating system that has gotten better with each update. Some even prefer it to Apple's iOS.

Five Undervalued Dividend Paying Retail Stocks / Companies / Investing 2012

By: Charles_Carnevale

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWe believe the retail sector is currently a mixed bag where some of the best names are currently too pricey to buy. Retailers such as Costco (COST), Ross Stores (ROST) and T.J. Maxx (TJX) have seen their share prices skyrocket over the last year or so. On the other hand, not all leading retailers have followed suit even when their operating results have been comparable. We have identified five well-known and even leading retailers that offer attractive valuation, good dividend yields and the opportunity for double-digit total returns over the next five years.

By: Yiannis_G_Mostrous

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleMalaysia traditionally has been viewed as a backward economy with a very defensive market. As a general rule, the Malaysian market tends to perform best relative to other Asian markets during periods of higher oil prices. That’s because Malaysia is a net exporter of oil.

The Truth About Corporate Earnings and How Forecasting Earnings is the Key to Success / Companies / Corporate Earnings

By: Charles_Carnevale

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIn part one of this two-part series on the importance of earnings I focused on the historical relationship between earnings and market price utilizing cyclical companies to illustrate the validity of my thesis.  In this part two, I am going to focus on how since we learned from the past how important and highly correlated the earnings and price relationship is, that it only logically follows that future results will also be a function of future earnings achievements.  Therefore, I confidently state that forecasting future earnings is the key to long-term investing success.

By: Benjamin_Shepherd

As the broader markets turn in a stellar performance, technology has been far and away one of the hottest sectors. That’s driven a huge 17.5 percent gain in Technology Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLK), just in the first quarter of 2012 alone.

Although highly commoditized, the semiconductor industry has been the top-performing industry group in the Technology Select Sector’s portfolio, with Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD), LSI Corp (NYSE: LSI) and Micron Technology (NYSE: MU) all gaining on average about 40 percent so far this year.

Outperform the Stock Market with Covered Call Options / Companies / Options & Warrants

By: Jim_Fink

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleToday’s rock-bottom interest rates and overpriced financial assets have created a low-return investment world that requires proactive yield-enhancement techniques such as covered calls, to generate the additional investment rate of return needed to retire comfortably.

Selling covered calls generates additional income and lowers the break-even cost basis of stock you already own, thus reducing the downside risk of stock ownership at all price points.

ETF's The Pesky Details of Prospectus Disclosure / Companies / Exchange Traded Funds

By: Casey_Research

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleVedran Vuk, Casey Research : In the infamous case of the Goldman Sachs Abacus 2007 AC-1 fund, it doesn't take a whole lot to figure out the wrongdoing. Paulson & Co., a multibillion-dollar hedge fund, helped select the mortgage-backed securities held by Abacus while at the same time, Paulson was planning on shorting it. This was all unbeknownst to Abacus buyers, since Goldman Sachs conveniently left out the details of Abacus' creators and their bet against the fund in the investment marketing materials. Ultimately, the case was settled for $550 million.

Investing in Water Stocks: Three Names to Buy Right Now / Companies / Water Sector

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticlePatrick Vail writes: You've no doubt heard about the building scarcity of water. It's the reason savvy shareholders have been busy investing in water stocks.

Here's why.

Water may be everywhere but only 3% of it is fresh or suitable for drinking. Two-thirds of that is locked in glaciers and polar icecaps, which means less than 1% of the world's fresh water is available for human use.

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleLarry D. Spears writes: Although it's been one of the market's darlings for a decade now, dividend-oriented investors have long shunned computer giant Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) because, well ... it didn't pay one.

That, coupled with AAPL's historically high share price, has always kept me from buying Apple stock - but, as a trader, it hasn't kept me from generating income with Apple options.

Apple Stock Price Parabolic Move Compared to Past Parabolic Trends / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Tim_Wood

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIn the first chart below I have included a weekly chart of the Nasdaq 100. Beginning at the 4-year cycle low that occurred in October 1998, we can see that price rose sharply into February 1999. In fact, in that 4 month period this index moved from a low of 1,063.74 up to 2,150.83. This was a 102% advance in only 4 months. As we moved into October of 1999 this advance was much more modest, but still managed to advance another 400 points during this time period and in doing so the Nasdaq 100 had advanced 143% in a mere 12 months. As this move received more and more attention more and more people jumped on the bandwagon with the hottest tech stock. As a result, a bubble began to form. From the October low at 2,299.95 the Nasdaq then advanced another 2,516. 39 points over the next 5 months. It was at this point that the advance went parabolic and in some 17 months the Nasdaq 100 had altogether advanced from the 1998 4-year cycle low at 1,063.74 into the March 2000 high at 4,816.34 for a total advance of 352.77%. From that high the Nasdaq 100 fell back to 795.25, which totally erased the entire move up from the 1998 4-year cycle low in which the dot-com bubble began and I still remember people talking about the tech stocks and why tech was back at the 2002 bottom. To date the Nasdaq 100 is still off of its high by some 40%.

How Savvy Investors Build True Wealth / Companies / Investing 2012

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleKeith Fitz-Gerald, writes: Most investors think of time as an enemy, a predator that stalks them all of their lives. They never feel they have enough of it so they are constantly trying to outwit it.

Trying to beat time, they become irrational and make unpredictable, impulsive decisions to "get ahead" or hit the proverbial "home run."
