By: Mike_Paulenoff
Catalysts for the market this week are earnings, which begin to be released Monday evening, and reaction to the weekend's news about the China trade surplus. In addition, there’s a potential vote on financial regulation that could affect bank stocks and a vote on extending unemployment benefits.

Before Peak Or Beyond Petroleum, BP Oil Limits / Companies / Oil Companies
By: Andrew_McKillop
BP's Gulf of Mexico disaster is treated almost daily in the mainstream media as a technology
challenge that BP itself will soon master. This enables corporate-friendly media to yip that things
are alright in the best of all possible worlds, topped off by the coming gusher of ultra-large
damage and loss payments from one of the world's most profitable corporations. The stream of
lies gushing from BP spokespersons since April 20, for example on the real loss rate of oil spewing
into the Gulf's depths, takes second place to the unspoken, but prime role of deep water oil for
defenders of the real economy: produce more outside the OPEC countries and Russia: keep oil
prices down, and keep up consumer confidence.

Is it Safe to buy BP Junk Bonds? / Companies / Corporate Bonds
By: Gary_Dorsch
For fixed income investors, who seek a steady cash inflow from bonds, either to supplement their income, or to subsidize their retirement, - these are the worst of times. The so-called “risk-free” rate of return on money market deposits, or those of FDIC insured bank CD’s in the United States are offering a razor thin 7-basis points. Worse yet, the Federal Reserve might be a year away, before it has the courage to begin lifting short-term interest rates to more “normal” levels.

Three Reasons Technology Companies Will Continue to Coast Through 2010 / Companies / Tech Stocks
By: Money_Morning
Kerri Shannon writes: Technology companies had a blowout first half marked by strong earnings and successful product rollouts. But the second half of 2010 could be even bigger, because a flurry of merger and acquisition activity, corporate IT splurges, and high consumer demand - particularly in emerging markets - have set the stage for a serious haul.

Investors Bet on Low-Cost High-Volume Natural Gas Shale Plays / Companies / Natural Gas
By: The_Energy_Report
Stifel & Nicholas Oil and Gas Analyst Amar Arif believes cheap natural gas prices shouldn't keep you from making cash in the gas space. Arif says it's all about companies with production growth in low-cost shale basins. "Find the companies that are in these low-cost basins so that you know they have a good margin, regardless of whether gas is forecast at $4, $5, or $6. . .don't make a bet on the commodity, which is what we're seeing. Gas doesn't have positive drivers behind it. You want to make a bet on the volume without diluting the equity," says Arif, who provides some of those names and the reasons behind them in this exclusive interview with The Energy Report.

Expected Upside Pivot for Real Estate ProShares SRS / Companies / Housing Stocks
By: Mike_Paulenoff
My overall work on the UltraShort Real Estate ProShares (NYSE: SRS) indicates that the upmove from the Jun 21 low at 24.07 to the Jul 6 high at 32.20 completed the initial upleg of a larger, intermediate-term advance. If accurate this means that from in and around the 27.50/00 area, the SRS will pivot to the upside into a new upleg that projects into the 34.50-35.00 target zone.

These Stocks Bear Market Investments Pay 8% Dividends / Companies / Dividends
By: DailyWealth
Not all stocks pay dividends. Take Ford Motor, for example. It's one of the largest manufacturing concerns in the country. But its stock pays you no income.
Here's the thing: You can still get an 8% dividend from Ford. Just use ticker symbol F-S. (If you use Yahoo Finance, type in F-PS.)

The Safest Big Dividend Stock in the Market / Companies / Dividends
By: DailyWealth
Dr. Steve Sjuggerud writes: "I went to the bank with $1,000 today, to open a bank account," my friend Lee told me. "The bank turned me down – they said it was too risky."
"Wait a minute, you went there to borrow $1,000?" I asked.

High Yield Master Limited Partnerships (MLP's) Investment Plays / Companies / Investing 2010
By: The_Energy_Report
Interested in long-term, high-yield investment plays with certain deferred tax advantages? Master limited partnerships (MLPs) may be for you. Even through the recent downturn, most MLPs were able to maintain distributions and fund capital projects—especially investment-grade names. MLP units are traded on public exchanges just like corporate stock. "The difference," says Wells Fargo Senior Energy MLP Analyst Michael Blum, "is that MLPs are structured as partnerships." In this exclusive interview with The Energy Report, Michael explains the ins and outs of MLP investing and provides some names to get you started.

Eye on UltraShort Real Estate ProShares SRS / Companies / Housing Stocks
By: Mike_Paulenoff
I am looking to re-enter a long model portfolio position in the UltraShort Real Estate ProShares (NYSE: SRS) into weakness, if we get any. Should such a scenario unfold, then the SRS should pull back into the 28.50/00 area in a shallow correction, or into the 27.00 area in a deep correction.

SULTANS OF SWAP: BP Collapse Potentially More Devastating than Lehman! / Companies / Credit Crisis 2010
By: Gordon_T_Long
As horrific as the gulf environmental catastrophe is, an even more intractable and cataclysmic disaster may be looming. The yet unknowable costs associated with clean-up, litigation and compensation damages due to arguably the world’s worst environmental tragedy, may be in the process of triggering a credit event by British Petroleum (BP) that will be equally devastating to global over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives. The potential contagion may eventually show that Lehman Bros. and Bear Stearns were simply early warning signals of the devastation lurking and continuing to grow unchecked in the $615T OTC Derivatives market.

Six Ways to Invest in Brazil / Companies / Brazil
By: Ron_Rowland
Anyone familiar with international investing knows about Brazil. It’s hard to ignore the fifth largest country in the world by geography and population, the South American commodities powerhouse, and the largest economy in Latin America!
Over the past five years, Brazil’s largest ETF (EWZ) has posted a better than 200 percent cumulative return, while the S&P 500 is just shy of breaking even. Brazil puts the ‘B’ in the BRIC emerging market economies, and there’s a good reason why …

China Agricultural Bank Largest IPO Ever / Companies / China Stocks
By: Tony_Sagami
Did you make a few bucks by flipping hot technology and internet IPOs during the dot-com boom? A lot of people did, but that U.S. IPO market has pretty much dried up and the few IPOs that have come to market haven’t been very exciting.
The Chinese IPO market is a completely different — and extremely profitable — story.

It's Time to Invest in Chile and Colombia / Companies / Emerging Markets
By: Money_Morning
Martin Hutchinson writes: For decades, investors with an interest in Latin America were essentially limited to two choices: Invest in countries that were moderately badly run; or invest in countries that were truly dreadfully run.
Most recently, it's been the "dreadfully run" group that seems to be attracting new members: Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua have subscribed to the economic and political doctrines of Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.
