By: Nadeem_Walayat

Find out in my recent video why RIGHT NOW is probably the best time of year to buy a USED car from a UK dealer as we countdown into the end of 2017 and the start of the new year, a twilight zone for dealerships up and down the country starved of car buyer interest that for a short few weeks of the year puts the car buyers at an advantage of what usually comes to pass, and especially of during the summer months. So if you have been considering changing your old car for a newer model then watch my video for the conclusions of my extensive analysis of the UK used car market of the past year.

2007 All Over Again, Borrowers Start Scamming Desperate Lenders / Personal_Finance / Global Debt Crisis 2018

By: John_Rubino

One of the hallmarks of late-stage bubbles is a shift of power from lenders to borrowers. As asset prices soar and interest rates plunge it becomes harder to generate a decent yield on bonds and other fixed income securities, so people with money to lend (like pension funds and bond mutual funds) are forced to accept ever-less-favorable and therefore far-more-risky terms.

By: Nadeem_Walayat

The British arm of Toys R Us has been teetering on the brink of collapse for several months now following it's american parent company filing for bankruptcy protection in September 2017 that triggered a downsizing programme through rapid store closures that are likely to see at least 200 of it's 866 US stores close in an attempt at reducing its $5 billion debt mountain which dates back to its leveraged buy out of 2005 that costs Toys R Us $400 billion a year in interest payments and thus acts as a huge noose around Toys R Us's corporate neck.

Big Banks Finally Raise Savings Interest Rates, But was it worth the wait? / Personal_Finance / Savings Accounts

By: MoneyFacts

As we enter the festive month of December, savers will finally see some positive change in the variable savings market as many of the biggest brands have decided to increase their savings rates, but has the wait been worth it?

While many may assume it’s worth celebrating, the latest research from moneyfacts.co.uk can reveal that not all savers will be delighted, as some of the more popular deals have not had the full 0.25% Bank of England rate rise passed on. In fact, the average easy access rate has risen by a pitiful 0.07% in the last month, from 0.39% to 0.46%, and even those banks that do offer the full 0.25% rise can still be easily beaten by alternative brands, as challenger banks continue to dominate the Best Buys.
