Is a Stock Market Tax Bill Surprise Coming? / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017
By: Anthony_Cherniawski
SPX futures declined to 2631.25 in the overnight session, but appears to have recovered the majority of its decline. We may have seen the completion of an a-b-c correction that may probe the upper trendline or go to 2650.00 before reversing back down.
ZeroHedge reports, “Markets were thrown for a loop in the past 24 hours, with the Dow first soaring nearly 400 points on Thursday on expectations that tax reform was a done deal, when drama emerged just after the close when the Senate tax bill came this close to falling apart when the proposed "Trigger" was ruled as invalid, pushing a Thursday tax vote to this morning, and as of this moment the bill appears in limbo with the GOP scrambling to find ways to appease the sudden loud opposition among budget hawks.”

3 Global Financial Markets That Could Indicate an Interim Correction / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2017
By: Gary_Tanashian
Here are a few global ETFs with little room to drop in order to avoid daily chart technical breakdowns. That does not mean the end of the larger up trends, but could signal oncoming intermediate corrections if they do fall further and close the week that way (pre-market is red). The question would be, are they leading the fiscally drunk US market and its chronic tweeter in chief/stock pumper?

Labour Sheffield City Council Election Panic Could Prompt Suspension of Tree Felling's Private Security / Local / Sheffield
By: N_Walayat
The escalation this week of the Labour controlled Sheffield City Council's PFI contractor Amey deploying private security in footage and images has been generating outrage amongst Sheffield's electorate where even the mainstream press who usually tend to ridicule the tree protestors as being a fringe group have started to question recent tactics in the wake of footage of protestors being 'geckoed' i.e. squashed between walls and metal barriers.

Why Have You Been So Quiet About Metals? / Commodities / Metals & Mining
By: Avi_Gilburt
The question in the title is one of the most frequent comments I have been getting of late. And, the answer is quite simple: They are not doing anything right now. In fact, if you look at the charts, we have been in the same general region for several months.
But, you see, many of you really don’t want an update to know what I really think about the complex. Rather, many of you want an update to either soothe your emotions about the market, or to provide some confirmation bias for you. It has become purely emotional for you, so you feel the need to constantly deal with your emotions.

Capital Repositioning Driving Stock Market Volatility Higher / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017
By: Chris_Vermeulen
Recent moves in the FANG stocks shows that capital is starting to reposition within the global market. As the end of the year approaches, expect more of this type of capital control to drive greater volatility within the markets. At this time of year, especially after such a fantastic bullish run, it is not uncommon to see capital move out of high flying equities and into cash or other investments.

Britain Pushes for Brexit or Bust / Politics / BrExit
By: Boris_Dzhingarov
There are competing arguments as to how a Brexit will impact Britain. Those opposing a Brexit believe it will have disastrous repercussions on the UK economy, plunging the country into raging inflation, high unemployment, and a skills shortage among others. One of the more pressing concerns for Britain is the exodus of companies from the City of London to other European capitals.

Amey Grinch Felling Sheffield Christmas Lights Cherry Street Trees / Local / Sheffield
By: N_Walayat
The Labour controlled Sheffield City Council's 'streets ahead' PFI contractor Amey has deployed increased tree felling / security resources at the start of this week in an attempt to fell hundreds of trees before the end of this year by deploying what resembles an army of green capped hi vis jacketed security personnel to accompany felling crews that tend to far out number the protestors standing beside street trees in freezing temperatures across dozens of Sheffield's streets. The catalyst for this weeks escalation is the looming deadline contained within the PFI contract to fell 6,000 of Sheffield's big street trees by the end of 2017 (out of an estimated total of 36,000).

SPX Giving Back its Gains / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017
By: Anthony_Cherniawski
SPX went parabolic this morning, nearly undoing my Wave analysis. The current Wave structure is invalidated at 2660.13. That was a close call. By 1:00 pm it was over.
Equities are at a spike high which makes it hard to go short, especially after this terrific short squeeze.

Long-tail Pin Bar On BTCUSD Daily Chart Suggests Trend Reversal / Currencies / Bitcoin
By: Submissions
Bartosz Kali writes: After a phenomenal and very surprising run, the price of Bitcoin in relation to the US dollar is showing signs of retreating into a inevitable correction.
On a daily chart of BTCUSD as shown by price data from Bitstamp, we can clearly see a long-tail Pin bar indicating a trend reversal.
Long-tail pin bars are usually an indication of a strong rejection of a bullish run by the market and it is very often followed by a period of trend reversal.

Five Charts That Show We Are on the Brink of an Unthinkable Financial Crisis / Stock-Markets / Financial Crisis 2017
By: John_Mauldin
Bonfires are fun to watch, but they eventually burn out.
Human folly apparently doesn’t, so we just keep adding to the absurdities. The volume of daily economic lunacy that lights up my various devices is truly stunning, and it seems to be increasing (you can find a previous series of charts in my free newsletter Thoughts from the Frontline, which you can subscribe to here).
Let’s take a look at a series of charts I received from my “kitchen cabinet” of friends.

S&P 500 Fluctuates As Technology Stocks Sell Off / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017
By: Paul_Rejczak
Briefly:
Intraday trade: Our Wednesday's intraday trading outlook was neutral. It proved accurate because the S&P 500 index lost 0.03%, following slightly higher opening of the trading session. The market broke above its short-term consolidation on Tuesday. We still can see negative technical divergences along with medium-term overbought conditions. However, there have been no confirmed negative signals so far. Therefore, we prefer to be out of the market today, avoiding low risk/reward ratio trades.
Our intraday outlook is neutral today. Our short-term outlook is neutral, and our medium-term outlook is neutral:
Intraday outlook (next 24 hours): neutral
Short-term outlook (next 1-2 weeks): neutral
Medium-term outlook (next 1-3 months): neutral

Three USD Markets Point One Way! / Currencies / US Dollar
By: Enda_Glynn
Hi everyone,
We got an indication today of how much the idea of Bitcoin has penetrated society.
FOMC member Dudley says that the Fed is starting to think about its own digital currency.
I found that ironic,
Seen as the lions share of FIAT currency itself is digitally generated
through credit emission in the banking system and monetized government debts!
Simply put;
The USD is the biggest digital currency, and it dwarfs bitcoin by several orders of magnitude.
It seems that the FED itself does not realize its own game.

Gold Being Odd and USD Being Tricky / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2017
By: P_Radomski_CFA
Every now and then we see some kind of anomaly on the precious metals market. Sometimes it’s particularly useful and sometimes it’s just something random. Yesterday was one of those days when something didn’t seem right. The USD Index rallied, silver declined, mining stocks declined and yet, gold closed the session higher. What can we infer from this uncommon event?
