US Economic Data Tempers Expectations on the Stock Market / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2021

By: Boris_Dzhingarov

Snapshot of the US Economy: Movers and Shakers

The performance of the US economy at any point in time is predicated on a series of economic indicators. Several important metrics must be assessed to gain a better understanding of US equities markets, and the economy at large.

Chief among them are the GDP growth rate, the unemployment rate, non-farm payrolls, the inflation rate, and interest rate. As it stands,  theGDP growth rate is currently at 4%, the unemployment rate is at 6.3%, NFP data is at 49, and the January 2021 inflation rate remains unchanged at 1.4% (same as December 2020).

US Coronavirus Pandemic Current State / Politics / Pandemic

Remember the big picture folks of a trend towards a full spectrum war against the emerging Chinese Empire as per my series of in-depth analysis of December 20216 towards which the Chinese prematurely unleashing a bio weapon due to incompetence is just one facet of this full spectrum war against this emerging totalitarian empire that in less than a decade will could to be come to seen as Nazi Germany when enacting their own versions of the final solutions on populations and lands they seek to conquer i.e. bordering Asian nations, Australia and large chunks of Africa in addition to wiping out conquered peoples such as the Uighurs that now reside within China's borders.

Bubblicious Asset Prices, Debt Dependency, Economic Collapse / Economics / Coronavirus Depression

By: Kelsey_Williams

The words bubbly and delicious might be more descriptively accurate when talking about champagne. However, it is not too difficult to imagine giddy salivation among the owners of Bitcoin, or Tesla stock.

And, while some might be more stringent in their terms of definition and applicability, investors in stocks, bonds, real estate, etc. – pretty much anything with a $ sign in front of it – might want to rethink the current state of affairs as it pertains to valuation of their financial assets.

Energy Metals Lead the Charge / Commodities / Metals & Mining

By: MoneyMetals

Gold and silver aren’t the only viable plays in the metals space – and they aren’t currently the leaders.

On Wednesday, both copper and platinum rallied up to multi-year highs. Rhodium, meanwhile, currently commands $21,000 per ounce – yes, per ounce – making it one of the most valuable elements on the planet.

What’s driving these “energy” metals? Besides ongoing currency depreciation and the risks of higher inflation, which will help boost all hard assets over time, rising demand for electricity in general and electric vehicles in particular.

President Joe Biden recently decreed that the federal government must transition its entire fleet of cars, vans, and trucks to electric motors.

Portugal’s Rental Sector Saw a Decrease of 13.5% in 2020 / Housing-Market / European Housing

By: Boris_Dzhingarov

As for many countries, 2020 was an economic roller coaster for Portugal. The country rode out the first wave of the Covid pandemic with a commendably low loss of life, but it was the fortunes of other countries which determined its economic fate. The Portuguese government worked hard to reassure the tourists, so crucial to Portugal’s economic survival, that the country was open for business as usual and was a safe destination, but the uncertainty caused by the pandemic and high levels of Covid in neighbouring Spain rendered their efforts in vain. Travel corridors which were agreed with the UK to allow visitors into the country were only partially successful. The uncertainty around whether these travel corridors would remain open and the possibility of being stranded was sufficient to deter most tourists. The effect on Portugal’s economy has been catastrophic and the burgeoning property market has gone into steep decline.

UK Real Inflation is 15% to 20% - Grocery Price Rises Due to Rampant Money Printing / Economics / Inflation

By: Nadeem_Walayat

The Government and Bank of England would have you believe that Inflation is not a problem as they continue to focus the masses on their fake conjured out of thin air inflation indices such as CPI at just 1.4%, so as to allow the theft of real purchasing power to continue unabated as the government goes on an annual £400 billion spending spree, racking up debt that the Bank of England is busy monetization though QE, all so as to suppress real interest rates giving the illusion that the consumers are getting a free lunch, i.e. rampant government money printing deficit spending all without any inflationary consequences that the morons in the mainstream financial press are more than happy to regurgitate. However REAL inflation, that which people experience when they do their weekly shops is far higher than the fake 1.4%, REAL Inflation is at LEAST 15% and more like 20% as that is what happens when the Government starts paying 1/3rd of the workforce to stay at home, as has been the case for most of 2020 and continuing into 2021.

Millennials Will Propel Stocks Higher For Years / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2021

By: Stephen_McBride

A message board destroys a top Wall Street hedge fund. You’ve surely heard about the WallStreetBets/GameStop saga by now. Many investors see it as a sign markets are headed for a crash.

In fact, Google searches for “stock market bubble” just hit the highest level ever. And a new E-Trade survey found two-thirds of investors think the market is in a bubble.

What if I told you this is the start of a megatrend that will propel disruptor stocks higher for years? As I’ll show you today, this story runs much deeper than a bunch of average Joes crushing the pros.

I think it’s jet fuel that will propel the stock market higher for a long time. And it all has to do with today’s generation of young adults, aka “millennials.”

Apple M1 SOC Chip Crushing Intel in 2021 / Companies / Apple

By: HGR

Apples EC has rocketed higher to 76 up from 55. which on face value makes Apple an expensive stock to buy right now. However, when one actually looks under the hood at what's going on at Apple then one finds the reason why Apple has been bid up to such lofty levels, where it's current price even after the recent correction is more than double where the stock was trading during March. The answer lies in Apple's 2 year transition away from using former best buddy Intel's CPUs which has started off with a BANG following the launch of the the M1 Mac Book laptops just a few days ago. what's the M1? It's Apple ditching intel for it's ALL in one chip that includes a 8 core CPU, 8 core GPU, 16 core neural engine and memory all on one SOC die that is basically a souped up version of the A14 chips found in Pads and iphones.

The Gripping Hand Holds Inflation / Economics / Coronavirus Depression

By: John_Mauldin

The question people ask me most often is when the US will see inflation.

Not to be a two-handed economist ("on the one/other hand"), but it's really the third hand—the gripping hand, which has the least dexterity and the most strength—that holds the answer.

The thing is, you cannot predict inflation or deflation until you know what happens with COVID-19 this summer.

The good news is that US vaccinations are accelerating. States and the federal government are working out bugs in the process. Supply constraints are easing a bit. It is still going much too slowly, but was always going to be an ordeal. The single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be approved soon and will help give everyone a chance to be vaccinated by this summer.

What’s Next for the Silver Price Roller Coaster? / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: P_Radomski_CFA

After a frenzy of Reddit induced activity that captivated everyone, silver painfully gave back what it gained. What’s next for the white metal?

As the precious metals’ version of moral hazard, silver tipped over the flowerpot, and left gold to clean up the mess. After silver’s short squeeze mania ended in tears on Feb. 2, the white metal gave back 97% of its squeeze -induced gains. Conversely, bearing the brunt of the market’s wrath, gold gave back 237% of the momentum-induced gains.

Precious Metals Charging Higher As Stocks Keep Pushing On a String / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: Submissions

Stocks keep cooling off at their highs, and calling for a correction still seems to be many a fool‘s errand. Does it mean all is fine in the S&P 500 land? Largely, it still is.

Such were my yesterday‘s words:

(…) It‘s still strong the stock market bull, and standing in its way isn‘t really advisable. With the S&P 500 at new highs, and the anticipated slowdown in gains over Friday, where is the momentary balance of forces?

Still favoring the bulls – that‘s the short answer before we get to a more detailed one shortly.

The anticipaded gold rebound is underway, and my open long position is solidly profitable right now.  In line with the case I‘ve been making since the end of January, the tide has turned in the precious metals, and we are in a new bull upleg, which will get quite obvious to and painful for the bears.

What Are the Top Stocks to Watch in February? / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2021

By: Boris_Dzhingarov

Stimulus + Stimulus = Robust Recovery in the Stock Market

With 2020 behind us, 2021 is shaping up to be a better year for the financial markets. Trader and investor optimism have strengthened, across most markets, including Emerging Markets, the Eurozone, and the United States. The ravages of a short-lived bear market were devastating, but the bulls are stomping their hooves.

This year, markets are expected to rebound on the back of several key elements, notably mass vaccinations of the global populace, multiple government stimulus efforts, and the development of a robust new-age, digital economy. All of these factors are coalescing to create new economic opportunities for growth.

How To Fund Your College Education Without Any Danger Of Going Broke / Personal_Finance / Student Finances

By: Steve_Barker

Life after high school is not the end but merely the beginning of life encompassing more challenging encounters. In other words, college happens. Unlike what most movies and shows portray, university life is not exactly drunken parties, late-night gatherings, and irresponsible adulthood, at least not entirely.

As much as many of us want to spend college worrying solely about professors and focusing on self-discovery, reality has more things in store for incoming freshmen. The most common problem that college students encounter is their financial pool. Education, whether primary or secondary, is relatively expensive, and tertiary education is even more so.

Ethereum Surges to Record High, As for Fundamental Causes... it's "Game" Over / Currencies / Ethereum

By: EWI

The GameStop fiasco did not spark Ether's rally; see the Elliott wave pattern that did.

Cryptocurrencies are well-known as hot-potato markets with volatile price swings. Most investors and traders see cryptos as "catch-and-release" - vs. - "buy-and-hold."

But this chart tells a somewhat different story. It not only shows that the #1 top performing cryptocurrency for 2020 and (so far) 2021 is #2 in line: Ethereum. But it also shows that, after trending sideways from August through October, ETH held and continued to hold the upside in a powerful rally to record highs on February 3.
