Trump Puts North Korea Nuclear WAR Back on Track as Plans for Nobel Peace Prize Evaporate / Politics / North Korea
Trump cancels the summit with North Korea's Little Rocket Man for 'angry statements' that followed Trump spoke persons such as Bolton stating that they were planning a Libya model for North Korea's future i.e. regime collapse. Whilst the announcement may have come as a surprise to the mainstream press. However, as my article of 2 weeks ago illustrated that I thought that even if a meeting took place between the two that it would not amount to more than a publicity stunt for Trump's ego who feels he's due a fake Nobel peace prize like the one handed out to Obama for apparently just getting elected.

The USD Index’s Outlook / Currencies / US Dollar
While we regularly cover the individual currency pairs, in today’s alert, we’ll focus on their common denominator – the USD Index. The reason is that whatever happens to it, will have profound implications on what happens in the rest of the forex world. And it seems that quite a lot is going to happen, and it’s not going to be intuitive.
As one can see, there is a general tendency for a given market to move up until it is very overbought and then to correct or decline significantly. At the least - visibly and at the most - extremely and another way of describing the latter is to say that the market is going to become very oversold.

Stock Market Higher Again, but Still No Breakout / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2018
Stocks were gaining on Wednesday following lower opening of the trading session. Is this an upward reversal or just another move up within two-week-long consolidation? Bulls are happier today, but there are still two possible medium-term scenarios.
The U.S. stock market indexes gained 0.2-0.6% on Wednesday, as investors' sentiment reversed following a lower open. The S&P 500 index got close to its recent local highs and it currently trades 4.9% below January’s 26th record high of 2,872.87. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.2%, and the technology Nasdaq Composite gained 0.6%, as it was relatively stronger than the broad stock market yesterday.

What if This Week’s Rally in Gold is Already Over? / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2018
In yesterday’s analysis, we explained how it’s possible for the precious metals sector to move higher in very short term and at the same time still form the next local bottom close to $1,250. The key part of the analysis was that this week’s turning point may turn out to be declines’ starting, not ending. We also argued that we could see a small decline in the USD Index and that might be enough to cool down traders’ emotions. It seems that we have seen just that, and now the question is: how soon can we expect gold to decline?

Is It Time To Just Sell All Your Gold? / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2018
For those that follow me regularly, you will know that I have been tracking a set-up for the SPDR Gold Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:GLD), which I analyze as a proxy for the gold market. I also believe that gold can outperform the general equity market once we confirm a long-term break out has begun, and I still think we can see it in occur in 2018. This week, I will provide an update to GLD.

What’s Next for Gold / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2018
Gold failed to breakout in the spring and recently lost weekly support at $1310. Meanwhile, the gold stocks have held up well in recent weeks (considering Gold) but still have much to prove. Silver couldn’t rally much when its net speculative position was at an all time low. The question now is where do things go from here. The price action is not bullish but with a Fed hike looming and negative sentiment, Gold could be poised to snapback after testing lower levels.

Study: A Rising and Strong U.S. Dollar Isn’t Consistently Bearish for the Stock Market / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2018
Investors and traders are susceptible to recency bias, which means that they emphasis recent observations over those that occurred in the past.
The U.S. Dollar has been rising recently, which reminds some investors of the 2014-2015 USD spike that led to a “significant correction” for the U.S. stock market in 2015-2016.
For starters, it’s important to put things into perspective. The U.S. Dollar’s recent “surge” is more like a small rally.

How TIME’s Bremmer Got Duterte Wrong / Politics / GeoPolitics
Today, global dominant media is often exploited as a tool of coercive diplomacy. The recent Time commentary on the Philippines president is a case in point. The real story is behind the story. In early May, Time magazine released the feature story, “The Strongmen Era,” by Ian Bremmer, the venerable president of Eurasia Group. The cover featured the photos of Russian President Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Urban, Turkey’s President Erdogan, and Philippines President Duterte. It was a promotional piece for Bremmer’s new book on globalization. As Duterte reject the term “strongman,” Bremmer penned a new attack.

Gold, Silver & US Dollar Updates with Review of Latest COTS / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2018
Technical analyst Clive Maund looks at gold, silver and the dollar after reviewing the latest COT Charts. Gold's breach of nearby support last week freaked out some longs of a nervous disposition, but it did no technical damage of any significance, as we can see on our latest 3-year shown chart below on which we can observe that it is still above important supporting trendlines. This chart shows that last week's drop was just a "storm in a teacup." Recall that the pattern that has been forming since mid-2016, for nearly two years now, is the Right Shoulder of its giant Head-and-Shoulders bottom that may be viewed on the 8-year chart in the last Gold Market update.
