See What’s Next for European Markets / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2021

By: EWI

Dear reader,

"Will it break above $1?" That’s the question millions of crypto watchers are asking now.

Dogecoin may be on your watch list, too. After all, its 9000%+ rally year-to-date is no longer “funny.” What started as a joke is now very serious.

Gold's Perfect Storm / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: Richard_Mills

US Treasuries are as much sought-out by investors in a crisis or pending crisis, but lately, Treasuries have become much less popular as a means of storing wealth.

The reason is simple: T-bills don’t offer a good return, and neither do other sovereign debt instruments. Although US Treasury yields have been climbing, owing partly to expectations of inflation, in recent weeks this trend has reversed, amid renewed concerns about the pandemic.

On Tuesday, the World Health Organization warned that global infections were reaching their highest levels, prompting many fund managers to rotate money into safe-haven bonds. The yield on the 10-year Treasury slid to 1.5% while the 30-year yield was reduced to 2.26%.

Looking at the 10-year chart, we see the yield starting to climb in January, reaching as high as 1.74% on March 19 before falling from 1.69% at the start of April to the current 1.5 %.

Subtract 2.6% inflation and the real yield is negative 1.1%.

Biden’s ‘Green Reset’ Could Be Great for Silver / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: MoneyMetals

As top officials around the world convene this week for a “climate summit,” President Joe Biden’s administration is planning the most radical expansion of government’s role in the economy since FDR’s New Deal.

The objective is nothing short of transitioning the entire U.S. and world economy to “clean energy” – as determined and directed by central planners.

Vice President Kamala Harris vowed, “We are not going to take it slow. We are not going to take it one step at a time. We are going to take one giant leap.”

First it was a Green New Deal, then it was a Great Reset. Now, apparently, it is a Giant Leap.

SPX Stock Market Short Squeeze – Here Or Not? / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2021

By: Monica_Kingsley

S&P 500 turned around at the open, and didn‘t look back. Is the selling over, have the markets turned the corner? Buy the dip looks to have won the day, VIX has been beaten back, and corporate credit markets scored strong gains. The benefit of the doubt would go with the bulls as the Russell 2000 and emerging markets joined in the buying spree. Heck, even the option traders turned more complacent again.

The table looks set for brighter days, but it‘s the odd performance in value (the reopening fireworks don‘t seem to go stale ever really) ignoring retreating yields, which the tech heavyweights strangely neither rejoiced. That reminds me of the dog that didn‘t bark story. I‘m thus looking for a daily consolidation of surprisingly easily gained ground without ruling out a weak downswing attempt – but it‘s the upside potential that‘s looking short-term limited here. The daily SPX chart doesn‘t give me confidence yet to declare this correction as not returning next week.

Nominal yields have again retreated a little, and inflation expectations are sending inconclusive messages – but don‘t forget that inflation is what the Fed ultimately wants. It just has to balance that with the Treasuries market not going into a tailspin – for now, mission accomplished, inflation expectations have peaked, move along, nothing to see here.

But the higher commodity prices are sending a clear message to the contrary – look for the PPI readings to be affecting CPI increasingly more. Markets aren‘t waiting for the Fed, and have been transitioning to a higher inflation environment already, even though the Fed sold the transitory talking points quite well – it would indeed be a 2022-3 story when inflation supported by the overheating job market would kick in. That‘s the context decreasing nominal yields should be interpreted in.

Fiscal Guilt: What a Shift in Monetary Policy Portends for Investors / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2021

By: The_Gold_Report

Sector expert Michael Ballanger describes how he is protecting his portfolio as political and financial fortunes begin to change.

To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
—from the poem "In Flanders Field;" 1915

I have a confession to make: I am reaching the end of my personal level of nonviolent tolerance when being forced to listen to non-elected "authorities" standing in front of TV cameras reading their "prepared notes" from teleprompters without the vaguest clue as to what they are talking about.

Worse still are the elected "representatives of the citizenry" of any country, state or province, standing in that very same spot ordering the populace to "stay indoors" while warning that the police have been instructed to issue citations (or arrest) those in violation of an order that has never been enacted into law.

Whether they are politicians or bankers or bureaucratic buffoons of questionable agenda, all of them should be gagged and bound and carted off to a facility of incarceration with zero chance of release back into the "general population." They all represent an ever-increasing threat to not only my sanity but also, and more importantly, to my personal liberty.

Tesla's BIG MISTAKE! Free Charging for LIFE! $700bn Stock Bubble Mania about to BURST! S 85D / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Tesla's stock price has soared into the stratosphere, touching $900 a share earlier this year with the over hyped Autonomous EV, solar energy stock still trading over $700 a share that values the company at close to $700bn, MORE than ALL of the other auto manufacturers put together! Don't get me wrong, I like Tesla and would invest in Tesla for the long run, but NOT on a market cap $700bn that puts Tesla on a PE of over 1100! For instance Toyota makes 20 times more profit than Tesla yet Tesla is value near 3 times Toyota, what are the investors smoking? Tesla is a auto manufacturer! It should not be valued at about 60X Toyota! That is insane!

Anyway in this video I took a look under the hood at what it's like to own and drive a Tesla partying up with someone who has owned and driven one for 3 years.

Gold Price Reversal? Have No Fear! / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: Monica_Kingsley

S&P 500 closed in the the red, vindicating my bearish sentiment going into Monday‘s session. And as I have tweeted during the day, the sellling doesn‘t appear to be over. Friday‘s:

(…) selling wave before the close looks to indicate hesitation ahead. Even though VIX is attacking the 16 level, and the put/call ratio ticked higher, the bulls are little disturbed thus far.

While VIX rose yesterday, it finished only a little above 17 – the tide in stocks hasn‘t turned to fear even temporarily in the least, and the current consolidation would still be one to be bought.

That‘s the result of ample liquidity in the system, which is denting the rotations. Yields moved higher yesterday, and defensives including tech or Down Jones Industrial Average rightly felt the pressure more than value stocks.

No Fear Of Inflation; Threat Of Deflation / Economics / Deflation

By: Kelsey_Williams

The Fed wants to have their cake and eat it too, but the cake is stale. Jerome Powell’s remarks in testimony before the Senate recently provoked considerable attention.

Responses, interpretation, and analysis by observers were many and varied. Unfortunately, no one learned anything different from what they thought they knew before Powell’s testimony.

The Fed is well aware of the problem. It is systemic in nature and goes far beyond corporate due diligence, bank liquidity, and the safety of your broker.

Most everyone else (with the exception of Janet Yellen, Ben Bernanke, and Alan Greenspan) thinks they understand the problem, but their limited understanding doesn’t allow for the subtleties of Fed Chair behavior.

This "Lopsided" Stock Market Ratio Is Sending a Clear Signal / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2021

By: EWI

Investors always find ways to "rationalize" bearish or bullish stances

For a stock market investor who understands that markets are not random or chaotic but instead patterned, the most important information to know is the price pattern of the market in question.

For an Elliott wave investor, the task is even more defined. As Frost & Prechter's Wall Street classic book, Elliott Wave Principle, says:

The market's progression unfolds in waves. Waves are patterns of directional movement.

So, familiarity with the Elliott wave model for forecasting financial markets is a must.

Stock Market Sentiment Speaks: Watch Out For The “Bear Market” / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2021

By: Avi_Gilburt

Throughout the years I have been writing on Seeking Alpha, many readers have recognized that we have been quite accurate in our market prognostications, yet they have had a hard time understanding the lens through which I view the markets.

I want to first start by stating that in all the years I have been doing research and analysis into financial markets, I have not found a single form of analysis that provides market context as does Elliott Wave analysis. In fact, it was the reason I was so confident in my expectation that the market would exceed the 4000SPX region even though we were down in the 2200SPX region last year.

So, before I move into my discussion of a “bear market,” I wanted to take a moment to again reference the six-part series I wrote, which explains not only the application of my analysis methodology, but also provides you with the background and theory behind the methodology: https://www.elliottwavetrader.net/market-update/Elliott-Wave-Series-Part-1-201808184848063.html

Gold Rebounds Amid Positive Economic Reports / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: Arkadiusz_Sieron

Several economic indicators have surprised us on the positive side. Nevertheless, the price of gold has rebounded.

Finally! The price of gold has been rising recently . As the chart below shows, the yellow metal rebounded from the late March bottom of $1,684 to above $1,770 on Friday (Mar. 16). This could be a promising start to the second quarter of 2021, which looks better than the first.

China's record first quarter fuels strong expansion in 2021 / Economics / China Economy

By: Dan_Steinbock

China’s 1st quarter record performance will accelerate momentum in China and support recovery in the US and global economic prospects – as long as unwarranted geopolitical tensions remain in check.

A year ago, China’s first quarter plunge was -6.8 percent, due to the pandemic effect. In the West, it was widely seen as the “end of China's growth story.”

Instead, in early February 2020 I predicted a turnaround in the increase of new virus cases in China, with the beginning of the economic rebound in the second quarter. Following the 6.5 percent expansion in the fourth quarter of 2020, the GDP rose to a record 18.3 percent year-on-year in the past quarter.

Obviously, the performance benefited from the base effect, due to the pandemic plunge a year ago. Nonetheless, it reflects a strong impetus for normalization.

Gold Price Next Key Level / Commodities / Gold and Silver 2021

By: MoneyMetals

Gold rallied last week toward the top of a down-trending channel that has been in force since prices peaked last summer.

A breakout attempt in early January failed. The gold market subsequently slumped to a potential double-bottom low in March around $1,675/oz.

The $1,800 level now looms as a critical technical juncture.

The recent bounce could either fail around there… or gather the strength to finally break out of the multi-month corrective phase.

Here's What to Look For When Hiring a Real Estate Agent / Housing-Market / US Housing

By: Steve_Barker

The most daunting experience for an individual or family shopping for a new house or wanting to sell their property is hiring a real estate agent or firm that can represent their interest throughout the entire process.

Buying a home is a huge milestone in a person’s life, but when you lack knowledge about the real estate market, it could become a sour experience. And it is the same thing when you want to sell your home, you need realtors to help you navigate the process while holding your hand all the way.

Most people shopping for properties in the real estate market are first-time homeowners, to ensure that your lack of experience is not exploited, get the right property that suits you for the right price, it is important that you engage the services of a real estate agent.

It gets tricky here because you cannot just decide to hire a realtor on a whim; they need to tick certain ethical, professional, and psycho-analytical boxes before you make the final decision.

Ethereum EIP 1559 and Raven Coin / Currencies / Crypto Mining

By: Nadeem_Walayat

And contemplating EIP 1559 and what it means for crypto mining then as Ethereum becomes more expensive to mine then that implies a shift in market hash power to the other crypto coins where likely a large beneficiary of which will be Ravencoin that could see a significant up lift in price. So, a strategy here could be to exchange ethereum mining today for Raven coin. Current price of Raven coin is $0.18. A large switch in market hash rate to raven coin could soon see it trade to over 50 cents, and likely a lot higher when the block rewards halve in January 2022 from 5000 raven coins to 2500 coins per block mined. So I will definitely be converting surplus bitcoins (about 15% of coins mined with NiceHash) into raven coin for the long-run, held with Nicehash until Coinbase decides to list RVN, maybe soon after their imminent IPO.
