Trump’s Top Econ Guy Just ANNIHILATED the Stock Market’s Fantasy / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Graham_Summers

The single biggest story this morning is Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin pouring ice cold water on the market’s mania.

First and foremost, Mnunchin stated point blank that the Trump administration HOPES to implement tax reform by August.

Stock Market SPX New All-time Highs Continue / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Tony_Caldaro

The SPX started the holiday shortened week at 2351. The market opened higher on Tuesday, rallied to a new high at SPX 2367, then pulled back to 2358 on Wednesday. After opening at another new high, SPX 2368, on Thursday, the market pulled back to 2353 on Friday before ending the week at 2367. For the week the SPX/DOW gained 0.85%, and the NDX/NAZ gained 0.25%. Economic reports for the week were sparse and mostly positive. On the downtick: the WLEI plus weekly jobless claims rose. On the uptick: existing/new home sales, consumer sentiment and the FHFA housing index. Next week’s reports will be highlighted by the FED’s beige book, the ISMs and the Q4 GDP second estimate.

When the Stock Market Flying Pig Tops / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Gary_Tanashian

Flying Pig

Filed under the category ‘smartest group of subscribers in the world’, I got an email from NFTRH subscriber Joe F. last week as I was mechanically managing the gold market in my somewhat downplayed, unexciting way…

“You win 9 out of 10 [I don’t, actually], but I think the setup is there for gold to go immediately.”

For a writer of many words over many years, I can sometimes grunt out the most basic of responses…

Another Stock Market Bubble? Bring it On! / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Clif_Droke

Anytime the Dow makes a new high you can be reasonably assured of hearing the B-word bounced around in the media. Memories of the last bubble are still vivid and painful enough to trigger flashbacks of the bubble's collapse. It's only natural then that investors fear a return of irrational exuberance. Despite these fears, the evidence of a newly formed bubble is surprisingly lacking, as we'll uncover here.

SPX Bounces at the Trendline Again / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Anthony_Cherniawski

SPX appears to have completed its Micro-Wave b at the trendline and now may be ascending to the final high. The Cycle top is now at 2375.46, so we may reasonably assume that SPX may go at least that high. The upper trendline is likely to be about 10 points higher, should it choose to go there. This rally is taking a long time to roll out.

What Investors Need To Know About U.S. Money Market Funds? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2017

By: Chris_Vermeulen

Why Low Risk Does Not Equate To Risk Free!

Charles Schwab has informed its’ clients that “at least 80% of the fund’s net assets will be invested solely in U.S. government securities…”.   Schwab automatically assumes that all clients affected by this change will accept: “if you are in agreement with this change in your cash feature, no response is required from you. They consider a non-response from its’ clients to be notice. “Those who disagree have the “option” of either sweeping their cash into the corporate bank exposing them to greater risk.  They add “you also have the right to close your brokerage account(s) without penalty at any time.”

Stock Market Mixed Volatile Day / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Harry_Boxer

The stock market indices had an interesting, but volatile session today, coming down sharply at the opening, testing support, and when that held they rallied to midday. They pulled back in the afternoon, backed and filled, and finished not far from all-time highs on the Nasdaq 100. Although the S&P 500 failed, it did make a run at it earlier in the day.

Is it Stock Market Autumn 2007 All Over Again? / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Graham_Summers

While the financial world continues to delight in Trump Mania, the US economy has rolled over into recession.

I realize this sounds completely insane. After all, stocks are at new all time highs and a full 61% of Americans view the economy as “strong.”

Unfortunately, this is perception, not reality. When it comes to the economy today, Americans are like the guy who hasn’t realized the party is over, and keeps dancing while others are already starting to leave.

Market Investments - No One Will Ever Care As Much as You / Stock-Markets / Investing 2017

By: Rodney_Johnson

I’m moving. And it’s a royal pain.

Beyond the hassle of physically getting all of our stuff from one state (Florida) to another (Texas), I have to deal with a mortgage lender on the new house. At first, against my better judgment, I called Bank of America.

As I told the guy I spoke with, I’ve hated the bank for the entire 23 years I’ve been with them. There’s been way too many hassles for what should be simple business transactions.

There is No Market, Only Trump / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2017

By: Graham_Summers

Those who lived through the ‘80s will undoubtedly remember the famous scene from the original Ghostbusters in which Bill Muray’s character goes to see Sigourney Weaver.

Unbeknownst to Murray, Weaver’s character has been possessed by a demonic spirit. And every time he states to her, “I want to talk to Dana” (the name of Weaver’s character in the movie), she responds, “There is no Dana, only ZUL!!!”

Stock Market Strong Start to the Week / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Harry_Boxer

The stock market indices were very strong today to start the week with big gaps up and strong runs early morning, midday they came down three or four times and tested support, unable to break them, and then rallied in the afternoon, finishing near the highs for the day for more new all-time highs.

Net on the day, the Dow was up 118.95 at 20,743.00. The S&P 500 was up 14.22 at 2365.38. The Nasdaq 100 was up 26.00 at 5350.73. All three closed near the highs for the day.

3 Ways to Quantify Risk in Today’s Murky Markets / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2017

By: John_Mauldin

Credit Indicators

One way to calculate market risk is through bond yields. As risk and return are directly correlated when a bond’s yield rises, it implies the risk of owning it has increased.

The main vehicle for measuring risk through yield is the US 10-year Treasury. The 10-year is the bellwether for global bonds as it’s considered a “risk-free” instrument. Since hitting all-time lows in July 2016, its yield has shot up 50%.

Big Moves in the World Stock Markets - Big Bases / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Rambus_Chartology

Before we look at some of the 2009 bull market uptrend channels there are a couple of more big consolidation patterns I would like to show you on some of the stock market indexes. The $DAX, German stock market, broke out of its 13 year triangle consolidation pattern back in 2012. Late last year it broke out of the blue bull flag with a nice clean backtest to the top rail. The big triangle consolidation pattern also had a smaller triangle as part of its internal structure.

Stock Market Lindsay’s 107-day Interval / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Ed_Carlson

George Lindsay wrote of a 107-day interval which he used as a confirming tool for finding highs in the Dow. Like all of Lindsay’s models, this one was not to be used in isolation – a common mistake made by those familiar with his most popular model – Three Peaks and a Domed House.

The Mother of All Financial Bubbles will be Unimaginably Destructive when it Bursts / Stock-Markets / Liquidity Bubble

By: Adam_Taggart

Chris Martenson writes: At PeakProsperity.com, we pride ourselves on providing fact-based context to breaking important events.

Within 72 hours of the Japan tsunami in 2011, we had analyzed the situation and concluded with high probability that three core meltdowns had occurred at the Fukushima nuclear plant. While it took years for officials to finally admit to the full extent of the crisis, history has validated our initial analysis.

S&P 2330 Holds as Stock Market Shows No Fear (Yet) / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Mike_Paulenoff

All eyes were on 2330 support again on Friday in the Emini S&P 500 (ES), but that level contained the morning's selling pressure, reaching a low at 2336.50. It is curious that before a three-day weekend, the ES gained upside steam in the final hour of trading. In other words, there is NO FEAR (yet).

Stock Market Crash 2017; Reality or all Hype / Stock-Markets / Stock Market 2017

By: Sol_Palha

"A man profits more by the sight of an idiot than by the orations of the learned." ~ Arabian Proverb

We have one expert after another predicting that it is time for the markets to crash; mind you these same chaps sang this same terrible song of Gloom in 2015, 2016 and now they are singing it with the same passion in 2017. There is one noteworthy factor, though; a few former Bulls have joined the pack.  Does this now mean that the markets are going to crash? Apparently not, well, at least if you look at the indices, as of Jan the market continues to trend higher. Furthermore, what is a crash or for that matter a pullback or a correction? Does it not all boil down to a perception?
